Chapter 524 There Was Always a Bigger Fish
Harper responded calmly, her smile deepening, yet her eyes remained utterly calm, without a ripple of emotion.
Indeed, Samantha had made the call at her persuasion, but it turned out to be a bust.
Harper explained to Samantha that her fallout with Benjamin was due to some disagreements and a misunderstanding caused by a mutual friend, which led Benjamin to confine her here, forbidding her to leave.
Touched by her story and moved by the fact that she was pregnant, Samantha agreed to help.
Her plan was simple. If Samantha could persuade Curtis, she would likely spend her day learning to cook at the apartment, which would allow her to get in touch with Annie. She was sure Annie would do everything possible to free her once she knew about the situation.
But Curtis hadn't agreed, and asking Benjamin seemed to be just an excuse.
Harper smiled wryly, her lips curling in self-mockery.
Living here these past few days, she had moved from agitation to a calm and steady state.
Let things take their course.
She really didn't want to guess what Benjamin was thinking anymore.
Benjamin had been standing by the living room's floor-to-ceiling window since he came out of the dining room, his distinctively jointed fingers holding a cigarette. Curtis was used to seeing him smoke by now, so it was no longer surprising.
Curtis asked, "Mr. Martin, should the maid taking care of Mrs. Martin learn from our housemaids about her preferred dishes?"
"No need."
"No?"
Benjamin glanced at him indifferently, slightly annoyed, "Was I not clear enough, or did you not understand what I said?"
