I'm a Cheerleader novel Chapter 8

Vincent's POV

Okay, remember last time when I had great big news to tell Sammie.... Well yeah, we all know how that went. I haven't told Derrick yet either. I thought it would be better to tell them at the same time.

"Hey, Derrick," I whisper as we stretch in the gym.

He rolled his eyes then turned to me. "What?" he said.

"What's got you in the mood?" I asked.

"I was in trouble during the weekend, remember," he said.

"Sorry," I say then I look around. "Where's Sammie?" I ask.

"Don't know, don't care," he said.

I slanted my eyes at him. "You don't have to be rude about it," I said then I went over to Coach Kal.

"Hey, Coach," I say cheerfully while giving a fake smile.

"Vincent, are you done stretching?" he asked.

"Yes," I say slowly and he sighs.

"What is it Vincent?" he asked.

"Where's Sammie?" I asked.

His eyebrow lifted up and he was smiling. "Ah is that the reason you wanted to do football?" he asked.

"Wait, what?!" I said.

"So you like to be in control of the relationship I see," he said grinning.

"What are you talking about?" I asked as my face was heating up.

"He's a bit short but average height I guess," he said rubbing his chin.

"I'm not-" I started to say but out of nowhere Mason pops up.

"Hey babe," he said and kissed me on the lips.

My face turns completely red and the coach's face darkens. "Oh, my bad, my mistake. Oh, Sammie there you are," he said.

I turned around to see Sammie just staring at us. Mostly Mason and I. Well this is just the case of the Mondays. Nothing goes right.

"Sammie-" I say but he brushes past me to the coach.

"Sorry I was late," he said, giving the pass to Coach Kal.

"It's fine kid." Coach Kal said trying to smile but had a look of concern on his face. Are you okay? Coach Kal mouths it and Sammie nods slowly.

Sammie turns around and walks slowly towards where Derrick is and sits down. He's spacing off.

"Vincent, you okay?" Mason asked, looking concerned.

"I'm fine," I say quickly and I leave him to go to the others.

The whole gym stopped staring at me thank goodness. As soon as I went over there Derrick grabbed my arm and took me to a corner.

"Your dating Mason?" he asked.

"Yeah, I wanted to tell you and Sammie," I said looking over to Sammie as it seemed like he was frozen in place.

"I'm happy for you," Derrick said grinning. Then he glanced at Sammie. "But I think he's still in shock," he said biting his lip so he wouldn't laugh.

I was glad he thought this was funny but I couldn't. That was not the way I wanted them to find out. I walked towards Sammie and sat next to him.

"Your dating...." he exhales. "Mason." he squeaked.

"Yeah, I was planning on telling you guys,"I said sighing.

He looked at me for a while then sighed as well. Then he asked me a question that surprised me. "Are you happy?" he asked.

I glanced at him then Mason grinning and talking to his friends. A smile came on my face. For a second I thought Sammie frowned but when I looked at him he looked away.

"Well if you're happy then I'm fine," he said smiling a bit but I could tell he looked a bit sad.

"Sammie are you-"I started to say.

"Yeah I'm fine," he said, getting up and then walked away.

At lunch, he didn't sit at our table. He didn't talk to me in the classes. Then after school came.

"What are you doing here Vincent?" Veronica said, shocked to see me on the field.

The female coach which I found out is Coach Marge. Was grinning at me then turned to the cheerleaders.

"This is our first time doing this. But say hello to one of our cheerleaders, Vincent," she said.

Veronica scrunched up her nose in disgust. Then she smiled at Coach Marge. "I would love to help him you know," she said.

"Already have that covered." Coach Marge said, making Veronica frown and me smirk. "Alexis and you I guess could both help him," she said.

Alexis? Damn it. I forgot she was a cheerleader too.

"Alexis!" Veronica said, pulling her out of the cheerleader group.

Alexis was smiling with her face flushed. I tilt my head to the side in confusion. Then when she saw me her face darkened. Well, damn bitch! So the two and I we're a bit farther than the others.
