Marcus asked, “What did you tell her?”

Dr. Dawson was shocked, “Marc, you were the one who asked me to keep your illness from Cornelia before you passed out. I did as you instructed.” 

Marcus said, “I asked you to keep my condition secret. Did I ask you to be cold with her? You are my subordinates, but Cornelia is my wife.” 

Dr. Dawson went pale and was speechless. She had always seen Marcus as her own son and thought he saw her as a mother. Even with their professional relationship, he was always respectful. She never thought he could say something se harsh 

No, she had been around him for too long and had become arrogant. He was the one who put his own father in jail, and kicked his own mother cut of the Hartley family. 

He was cold–hearted. How could she ever expect him to treat her like a mother? 

After a long while, Dr. Dawson finally composed and tried to defend herself, “Marc, was just worried about you. Don’t you think you’re being a bit too good to Cornelia?”
