She thought for a moment, then walked over to him. She opened her arms and gave him a hug, then quickly walked away, “it’s getting late, you should head home and get some rest See you tomorrow!” 

She came and went like a flash, Marcus didn’t even have time to grab her, and she was gone again 

Watching her quickly retreating figure, a slight smile crept onto Marcus‘ face. Not only did she hug him, but she also dropped the formalities.

It was late, but Zack and Abigail were still wide awake. 

As Cornelia entered the room, their eyes scanned her as if they wanted to see right through her. 

Abigail came over to Cornelia, and sniffed her with her sharp nose, “You’re useless!” 

Cornelia asked, “What did I do to upset you?” 

Abigail said, “You’ve been alone with Marcus for days, did anything happen between you two?” 

Cornelia said, “Who said we were alone? And who said I wanted anything to happen?” 

Abigail said, “You’re useless” 

Zack said, “Abby, cool it. Let’s talk business” 

“What’s going on?” Cornelia noticed their odd expressions. 

Zack said, “Someone trashed our studio.” 

Cornelia asked, “When did this happen?” 

Zack said, “The night before last 

Cornelia asked, “Did you call the police? Did they find out who did it?” 

Zack said. “We called the cops. But the perp was a pro, wore a full face mask and didn’t leave a trace. They are having a hard time finding the suspect” 

Cornelia said, “I think I might know who it is.” 

Abigail and Zack asked, “Who?” 

Cornelia said, “Clair Dennis, the wife of Granger Reese from the Reese Group* 

Abigail puzzled, “She’s a rich lady, what beef does she have with us? Why would she do this?” 

Cornelia said, “I once inadvertently offended her. But her animosity towards me, even intention of killing me, was not just because I offended her. There must be other reasons I don’t know about. I don’t even know where this hostility comes from.” 

Abigail said. “What do we do now? She’s Mrs. Reese, and the Reese family holds a lot of sway in Riverton. They could squash us like bugs.” 

Cornelia said, “It’s okay, she won’t dare to mess with us for a while. Have you guys made a list of the damages to the studio?” 

Zack said, “Yes. At least $10,000 in damages.”
