Chapter 764
He was the one running the massive Hartley Group, constantly swamped with endless tasks even during his downtime. He was already up to his ears in work, and she didn’t want to pile on more troubles for him, hoping he wouldn’t have to squeeze out more time and energy to help her out of his already hectic schedule.
Cornelia said so, and Ayden didn’t push further, “Heading back to the hospital now?”
Comelia nodded.
After a while on the road, Cornelia spoke again, “Ayden, could you do me a favor?”
Ayden, “Sure.”
Cornelia went on, “I’m sure those photos from this afternoon were sent by Clair, but I have no idea where she got them from. Could you help me find out who’s aiding her from behind the scenes?”
Ayden, “Sure thing.”
Cornelia, worried that Ayden might hit a brick wall with no leads, gave him a hint, “About that incident, it stirred quite a fuss in Rosenberg back in the day. Folks from Rosenberg should all know about it.
“However, Riverton is thousands of miles away from Rosenberg. At most, the incident was only spread around our school, the majority in Riverton should be clueless. The ones who’d keep photos and newspapers from that time, I bet, should be from Rosenberg.”
Ayden, “Don’t worry, I’ll find that person.”
Ayden was Marcus‘ most capable assistant, and he was highly skilled, making him an outstanding bodyguard. For him, finding someone was not a difficult task.
Cornelia, “Don’t let President Hartley know about this.”
“Sure.” Ayden didn’t ask why, but Cornelia volunteered the information anyway, “His health isn’t great, and he’s swamped with work. I don’t want my problems to add to his load.”
Ayden worked for Marcus, and Cornelia thought he might spill the beans to Marcus the minute she told him not to. The only way to keep Ayden silent was to let him know just how run–down Marcus was, to make him feel for Marcus so he wouldn’t blab everything to him.
Back at the hospital, Granny Rebecca was still in the emergency room.
She was old, and the longer the rescue took, the more dangerous it got. Everyone understood this, they all wore worried looks when they saw Cornelia return.
Zack was the first to approach, giving her a big hug, “Cornelia, Granny will be fine, don’t you worry.”
Cornelia was more anxious than anyone, but she kept her cool on the outside, “Granny will be fine. Just yesterday I told her our new house will be ready in a couple of months and asked her to get ready to move in with me.”
