She blinked her sleepy eyes and rubbed her groggy head, momentarily forgetting where she was. It wasn’t until she lifted her head and saw Marcus clearly that she recalled, “President Harlley…” 

Marcus, “Your grandma woke up and wants to talk to me alone. You take a break, I’ll go see her.” 

“I’m her granddaughter, why is it that the first person she wants to see when she awakes isn’t me? Doctor, are you getting things mixed up?” Her grandmother woke up, and the first person she wanted to see was not her. She was reluctant to believe this fact, but she said, “Whatever, I’m coming with you to see her.” 

Marcus could only oblige, “Alright.” 

Cornelia insisted on accompanying Marcus to her grandma’s ward. She was taken aback by how much her grandma had aged overnight and how much weight she had lost.

“Grandma…” A lump formed in Cornelia’s throat as she buried her head into her grandma’s chest, “Grandma, do you feel any discomfort? Is there anything you want to eat? If you feel unwell, you must tell me. And if there’s anything you want to eat, you must tell me too. I remember you love grilled pork belly, once you’re better, I’ll personally make it for you, okay?” 

Before her grandma could respond, Cornelia had already babbled on. 

Her grandma struggled to lift her hand and pat her head, “Nelly, don’t worry, I’m fine.” 

This girl had always been like this since childhood, the more nervous she was, the more she talked. She used her constant chatter to 

mask her emotions. 

Cornelia, “I know you’ll be fine. I’m not worried.” 

“Good, good, you’re not worried.” Granny Luisa chuckled, “You go out first, I need to talk to Marc in private.” 

Cornelia, “Grandma, I’m your granddaughter. What do you have to say to him alone that I can’t hear yet?” 

Granny Rebecca, “Many, many things that you can’t hear.” 

Cornelia, “No, I want to.” 

Cornelia was not an unreasonable child. She’d been sensible since she was little. She was being disobedient today, refusing to leave, because she was still worried and scared. She was afraid that once she left, she would miss important news. She was afraid that her grandma was hiding something from her, afraid that her grandma was unwilling to tell her the truth. 

Granny Rebecca smiled, “You’re married now, your husband is here, and you’re still acting like a child. Aren’t you afraid he’ll laugh at you?” 

Cornelia, “He won’t.”
