Chapter 776
He held his phone up to Granny Luisa, “Granny, Is this the Clair you know?”
Granny Rebecca took the phone and stared at the photo for a while, finally saying with relief. Thankfully, it’s not the Clair I know.“thank god”
“Who is the Clair you know?” Marcus already had an answer in his mind, but he wanted to hear it from the old lady herself.
“An old friend.” Granny Rebecca didn’t want to talk about Clair any further and quickly steered the conversation back to the main topic, “Marc, I asked Nelly to leave because I need to talk to you about something personal, something Nelly shouldn’t know about.”
“Go ahead,” Marcus said.
Granny Rebecca spoke, “Doctors keep saying I’m getting better, but I feel like I’m getting worse. I don’t think I have much time left. Nelly was abandoned by her mother when she was young and then lost her father in a car accident. I’m all she has. If I suddenly leave her, I don’t know how she’ll handle it. Promise me you’ll take care of her and spend time with her. Just be there for her. Don’t let her do anything stupid.”
Marcus assured her. The doctors aren’t lying to you. You are getting better. The problem lies with the person who was taking care of you. She messed up your medication.”
He didn’t tell the old lady the truth out of concern that it might worry her too much and affect her recovery.
“Wrong medication?” Granny Rebecca questioned.
“Yes, I’ve kicked her out. We’ll find someone else to take care of you from now on, Marcus continued. “And, I promise you, I’ll take care of Nelly no matter what. She’s my wife, and it’s my duty to look after her.”
“Is it just because she’s your wife? Don’t you like her even a bit?” the old lady asked.
Marcus was taken aback and then nodded, “Like her? Of course!”
She was such an amazing girl and she was his wife, how could he not like her!
Hearing this, the old lady finally felt relieved. With Marcus by Nelly’s side, she didn’t have to worry anymore, “Nelly is beautiful and lovely, she’s perfect in every way. Anyone with the right mind will like her. Make sure you tell her that you like her. She’s a bit sensitive, so make sure to reassure her often.”
Marcus listened patiently and nodded, “Alright.”
Granny Rebecca continued, “Please get her in now. I bet she’s sulking outside because she can’t hear our conversation.”
