Chapter 807
When Cornelia woke up, the sun was already high up and Marcus was nowhere to be found
Her internal clock was usually spot on. Even without an alarm, she’d wake up around the same time. What on earth had her sleeping till 10 am?
She rolled over and stared at the emply side of the bed.
This was their third night living together, and for the last two, he’d waited for her at breakfast every morning. Waking up to his absence left her feeling somehow empty, as if him waiting for her at breakfast had already become a longstanding routine.
She felt out of sorts without him around for even a day
Comelia grabbed her phone and shot Marcus a message without giving it a second thought.
Suddenly, three messages popped up on the big screen in the conference room, causing the room to go eerily silent, even the experienced Ben felt a twinge of aronety
Cornelia: [What time did you get up? |
Cornelia (Are you at the office already?]
Comelia [Why didn’t you wake me up?]
These messages shocked everyone in the room.
However, Marcus acted as if nothing was out of the ordinary picked up his phone and typed out a couple of lines, then hit send I saw you were tired last night, so I let you sleep in Didn’t wake you up ]
Thanks to the phone screen being projected onto the big screen, everyone in the room could clearly see their conversation.
He then continued [Just woke up?]
Cornelia [Yeah.]
Marcus: [Get up and freshen up, come downstairs for breakfast after. Can’t have you starving]
Cornelia [Alright‘]
The staff, especially the female staff, had mixed feelings seeing this warm exchange.
There’d been rumors that their boss didn’t like women. Then after he personally announced his marriage, rumors spread that he adored his wife to bits. Everyone believed these rumors, thinking their boss was the type to spoil his wife rotten and had no interest in other women.
Some harbored feelings for him but didn’t dare show it, afraid of getting fired. But Comelia, his assistant, was sharing a bed with hirri!
After sending his messages, Marcus looked up and asked, “Why the pause?”
Ben collected himself, ready to continue, when another ping from his phone interrupted him.
