Kai then retrieved two wine glasses and poured them both some red wine. “My goodness, you should see how haggard you look right now! I knew you wouldn’t be happy dating Tobias!”

Skylar shot him a cold glare. “You seem to have some serious problems with him. You two have a grudge against each other or something?”

“Tobias is not a good guy, okay? My instincts are telling me that you should stay away from him if you know what’s good for you. There’s plenty of fish in the sea, so why waste your time on him?” Kai scowled with a disdainful look on his face.

“I’ve never expected anything to happen between us. He doesn’t care about getting married, and neither do I,” Skylar replied.

She was playing it off way too casually, and Kai knew she wasn’t the type to fool around like that.

“Looks like you don’t know Tobias at all! I remember him bringing a woman home and claiming he wants to marry her, but that was a really long time ago. You were probably still in school at the time.”

Skylar tensed up for a brief moment but was quick to regain her composure. “Are you kidding me? If so, that was not funny at all.”

It was then that Kai realized Skylar was like any other ordinary girl who dreamed of getting married and having a family with the man they loved. The only thing that set her apart from those girls was her beautiful appearance, but that was all there was to it.

“If I recall correctly, her name is Idania Garland… Yes, that’s her all right. She was the only woman Tobias brought home to meet his family.
