Invincible Heir novel Chapter 138

Baron answered the phone.

“Hey! Baron! It’s Susan!” Susan’s voice came from the other end of the phone.

“What’s going on?” asked Baron in some astonishment. He was not that familiar with her after all.

“I wondered if you might be free to have dinner with me,” Susan said.

“‘I am busy,” Baron refused without hesitation.

“I know you’re a busy man, Baron! But Tracy has already agreed to this! I am going to thank you for saving my life, so you must come with Tracy, OK?” Susan continued.

“OK. When and where? I’ll be on time!” Baron said.

“I’ll text it to you!” Susan said and hung up.

After a while, Baron got Susan’s message. They would meet up at the McGill Restaurant an hour later.

Baron looked at his watch and stopped what he was doing. It was nearly about time. He stood up and was getting ready to head out to the McGill Restaurant.

After Baron promised to have dinner with her, Susan gave a gleeful yell of laughter. But for a moment, her smile faded. She had been looking forward to going out with Baron, just her and Baron, without Tracy!

Susan thought for a minute, and a ghost of a smile touched her lips. She got her mobile phone out and dialed a number. “I’ve got an assignment for you. You need to go to Samho and discuss the partnership with Tracy. Do that right now!”

But Tracy didn’t know anything about what Susan had done. She looked at her clock and found it was time to head for the McGill Restaurant.

At this very moment, her secretary came in. “Ms. Perry, the Wave Technology called, said its General Manager, Mr. Brook is on his way to our company. He will discuss the partnership with you.”

“It’s dinner time. Maybe Mr. Brook has some sort of emergency,” Tracy said, confused. She knew the Wave Technology belonged to the Lewis family. But she never thought Susan arranged all of this.

“Yes. Mr. Brook will travel on business a few hours later. He managed to find time to discuss the partnership with Samho before leaving,” Tracy’s secretary said.

Tracy nodded her head and said, “Oh, okay. I get it. In that case, Mr. Brook doesn’t have much time. All right, call the restaurant and make a reservation! We will discuss it over dinner.”

“OK.” Tracy’s secretary said and left.

Tracy couldn’t be able to keep the appointment, so she picked up her phone and called Susan. “Sorry, Susan! I’d love to have dinner with you, but I can’t. Something happened and I still have work to do.”

“What a pity! But that’s okay. It sounds like you’re really busy. I will call the McGill Restaurant and cancel the reservation,” said Susan deliberately.

“Wait! Wait! No need to cancel. You can eat with Baron! Besides, you are going to thank him, and it doesn’t matter whether I go or not,” Tracy said.

“Fine. Be that way. I will have dinner with Baron! And I’ll see you this weekend,” said Susan, smiling.

Her plan was working. No one would bother her and Baron at all. Her face broke into a radiant smile at the thought.
