In fact, Tracy had suspected something the moment Sherry urged her to leave. And Baron and Yuri’s presence made her more certain of what she had suspected. Her own mom lied to her!
Sherry recovered from her surprise and took the bracelet, but she made no reply to Tracy’s question.
“Let's get out of here,” Baron said calmly and they walked away.
Looking after them, Lucy said harshly, “you bastard! You need to pay for what you've done.”
“Shut up!” Connor snarled, the anger rising in him. “Are you insane? Don’t get me in trouble again.” He said and slapped Lucy again.
“Honey, why did you slap me again?” Lucy felt aggrieved and puzzled.
“You know what? This is too good for you! If it weren't for our child, I would kill you! Look at this mess! Don't you ever mess with a wrong guy again!”
Lucy’s heart gave a horrible jolt. She knew her husband well. There was nothing in this world he wouldn't do.
“Honey, I know what I did was wrong. I'm very sorry. It won't happen again,” Lucy said silkily. “But it's still puzzling to me. That jerk is nothing but a son-in-law of the Perry family. The Perry family is nothing for our Johnson family! He was nothing but a brute. Why are you afraid of him?” Lucy continued.
“You little schnook. Never underestimate your enemy! As you can see, so many men could not defeat him. He is not just an ordinary son-in-law!” Connor said angrily.
“We could get more people to kill him! I believe he's not that tough.” Lucy replied.
“I'm warning you, Lucy! Keep away from him, otherwise, either he or I will kill you! Do I make myself clear?” Connor bellowed.
Lucy got a shock and said, “Honey, don't worry! I'm just saying. I'll stay away from him! I promise!”
And without another word, Connor seemed to be deep in thought.
Actually, after being beaten at the Blue Sky Kindergarten, Connor started to investigate Baron’s background but found nothing. Especially five years ago when he disappeared, it was like he had vanished into thin air.
Connor’s friend reminded him that Baron was either nothing or somebody. But for the time being, the chance of the latter was very high.
At this moment, Baron was driving home with his family.
Lara had fallen asleep in Tracy's arms. Yuri looked out of the window, with her eyes red from crying.
Tracy had a lot of questions but she was very quiet. Although she wanted to get to the bottom of this, she knew it was going to lead to an argument, which would wake her daughter.
Everyone in the car got so much on their minds at the moment, except Sherry. She was playing with her phone and from time to time she burst into laughter.
When they arrived at the Perry Manor, Baron carried Lara up the stairs to her bedroom. Tracy finally got some time to ask Sherry for the truth. “Now you can tell me what happened at the restaurant. Why did Connor and his wife apologize to you?” She asked.
Sherry got a shock when she heard this. Then she said with an irritable voice, “I thought I made that clear. Your jerk husband gave her a slap, which got us all into trouble.”
“Bollocks!” said Yuri angrily. “Mom, why did you say that? If it weren't for Baron, we would have been so screwed. It was you who got ourselves into this. You two fought over the bracelet, but when you knew Lucy’s identity, you got scared! And what's more, you let that bitch hit me! I am your daughter! How could you do that to me? Fortunately, Baron stood up for me, otherwise, I would have been in the hospital now. It never occurred to me that you put all the blame on Baron. Shame on you!" said Yuri in one breath.
As Yuri said it out loud, she was very sad. A wave of anger spread through her.
Tracy finally knew what happened. She stared at her mom inconceivably. “Everything that she said is true, isn't it? Mom, you let them hurt Yuri! How could you do that?” said Tracy, very disappointed.
