Joseph leaned back into the seat, leisurely controlling the steering wheel. But his grip tightened when he heard Chloe's words and snorted. "I look forward to the day that you find out the truth."
"What else do you know?"
"A little. Vanya told me some other things when she was conscious."
Her heart skipped a beat. "Did she tell you anything about our child?"
"No." Joseph paused. He stepped on the brakes before turning toward her. "The child is gone."
"No, they’re still alive." Chloe became agitated and stubborn.
"Did you hear something from somewhere?"
Chloe was stunned. "No, it's just a gut feeling."
Joseph stared at her with an unfathomable gaze. He stopped asking for fear of giving her a harsh blow. He then started the car again.
"Could I meet your mother sometime?" Chloe said out of the blue as she grabbed her seatbelt.
Joseph’s eyes narrowed. When he stopped at the red light of the next intersection, he said, "Okay, let's meet her this weekend. She's busy with work during the weekdays."
"Okay." Chloe looked straight ahead and tried to remain calm. "I'll let you decide on the time and place." When they were almost at the Sullivan manor, she questioned, "Why aren’t you asking me why I want to meet your mother?"
Judging by how fast he had agreed, was he already suspecting something?
"You can meet her if you want to. I trust no one else but you."
His words silently tortured Chloe.
"Bye." Barely able to bear the guilt, she opened the car door and dashed off.

Joseph watched her away while tapping on the steering wheel rhythmically. ‘What are you hiding from me, Chloe?'
The next day, Zoelle dressed to the nines and went to Fairlight. One glance at the charming Zoelle and the receptionist assumed Zoelle was well-acquainted with Joseph, so they quickly informed Lucas of Zoelle’s arrival.
Lucas had put the call on speaker. He looked at Joseph, who kept his eyes on his work, and asked, "What do you think, sir?"
"Let her come up."
Lucas was surprised. "Okay."
Zoelle had exhausted a great time dressing up today. After all, to win the favor of a man as exceptional as Joseph, she had to put in the work.
"Sir, Ms. Zoelle is here.”
"Okay, you can go back to your work," Joseph instructed without even looking up.
Lucas frowned deeply and gave Zoelle a sidelong glance. She was indeed charming, but Joseph was not a man who judged a book by its cover.
Zoelle knew what Lucas' gaze implied. She covered her mouth with a red-manicured hand and said charmingly, "Why are you staring at me? Did you think your boss was a gentleman who abstains from women? Did he let you down?"
