The conversation made Chloe agitated. ‘My God! She actually dares to drug Joseph?’

Clara was unscrupulous when it came to gaining wealth, which made her even bolder than Xavia. At least, Xavia advanced orderly and tried to use a baby to bind Joseph to her. Clara was on a different level. She was trying to manipulate her body.

Feeling his cold breath on the back of her neck, she was stunned. She whipped around and found him standing within inches of her. They were so close that she could feel his breath and smell his unique scent.

A little startled, Chloe took a step back and almost slipped and fell. Fortunately, Joseph managed to catch her by the waist and held on to her.

"Coward." His cold voice was filled with a strange note of adoration.

Chloe stiffened, feeling his firm grasp around her waist. Wearing such a thin dress, she could feel the heat of his skin. His heartbeat was fast and strong, making her heart beat wildly too.

All at once, the summer night air was filled with an indescribable passion.

With a quickened breath, Chloe struggled to get free. But she was worried that she might alert Clara, so she only pushed him gently. "I'm fine now. You can let go."

Unexpectedly, her gentle push made him hug her tighter. He yearned to take her there and then, so why would he ever let her go?

"No... Don't..." Chloe tried to stop him from going any further, but she felt weak and her fingers trembled.

Joseph kissed her neck gently. "No, I won't." He could not bear the thought of doing it with her here, but he just could not control himself.

A few feet away, Clara was holding a torchlight in search of Joseph.

After about ten minutes, Chloe bit down hard on Joseph's tongue. The pain caused him to let go of her. The first thing she did after escaping his grasp was slap him.

"You bastard!"

A metallic taste filled his mouth. He then touched his face as his eyes turned dark. "That didn’t hurt one bit.”
