“Of course, it's true. The photos were provided by the Whitmans themselves. How could it be fake?"
"What a pity. Joseph is my type."
"In your dreams. He'll never be yours. Hahaha!”
"But Chloe is marrying Mr. Noah tomorrow, and her ex-husband died today. I wonder how she's feeling."
"Who knows…"
The employee speaking suddenly looked up and saw Chloe staring at them with a shocked expression. Her mouth hung wide open, but no words came out.
"What are you talking about?" Chloe questioned, her forgotten wet hands dripping water onto the floor.
"Oh, nothing. Just some idle chat," the employee explained awkwardly, "Please don't take it seriously. Most things on the Internet are fake anyway."
Chloe was now on par with Noah in terms of shares and was a prominent figure in Exotic Star. In other words, she could fire anyone she liked.
"Answer my question. What were you talking about?" Chloe suddenly said in a raised tone, startling the employee.
"I-I read about it online. Th-The media is saying that Joseph died in a car accident."
Chloe widened her eyes in confusion. She felt suffocated as if there was a cotton ball blocking her airway, making it hard to breathe. She mechanically repeated, "Joseph died?"
"That's what the online sources say. I don't know for sure."
The media would not provoke someone as influential as Joseph. Doing so would be to walk into their own graves.
The headlines had not changed. It was still about Joseph's death.
She was not dreaming. Everything was real.
"Joseph is dead…" she murmured. She sounded like she was speaking to herself but also asking Frieda at the same time.
Frieda frowned and said, "I'm not sure either…"
Chloe turned to look at her, and a glimmer of hope slowly ignited in her eyes. "Not sure?"
"Yes, the photos are real, but they haven't found his body."
Frieda did not dare to take any reckless actions. There were likely spies from Duskfall lurking around the Whitman family home. If she contacted them now, she would be exposing herself.
