Jacqueline's POV
Well, damn. I stared, flabbergasted at River and wouldn't quit gaping like a fish. "Uh...um...I...I'm so-"
"Don't say sorry. I mean, it's not your fault right." He gave me a quick smile and went back to cooking.
"What about your dad?" I asked cautiously. For all I know, he could be an orphan.
"He's dead too." His voice was blank and strained. What I did next was something I couldn't control and the result was what shocked me even more. I had locked my hands onto River's waist and laid my head into his hard chest, squeezing as hard as I could. He wrapped his arms around my smaller-than-his body and buried his face into the crook of my neck. I could hear tiny sniffles as I kept rubbing my hands on his back. His muscular, delic- NO! He is in pain. Now's not the time to be my weird, appreciative self.
"I'm gonna let go now, okay?" I spoke in a soft voice that was new to my ears.
As he stood upright, he cleared his throat and muffled a gruff, "Thanks." I stood beside him, watching his magical hands cook a beautiful dish. Damn, that looks good already.
"That looks so good." I groaned loudly. "Can I please taste the chicken?" Silence. Okay? I poked him once, twice. "Can I taste the chicken?" Poke. "Can I taste the chicken?" Poke. "Can I taste the chi-"
"Oh my God, Yes!" He shoved the spoon into my mouth. Please cue the Angels Choir. Hallelujah, this is heaven. Mmm! I moaned as the spicy taste of his chicken entered my mouth and I swear, I almost passed out from the deliciousness of this food.
"More!" Well, wasn't I the greedy person today?
Dylan came into the kitchen with a alarmed look on his face and shouted, "What is going on in here?" Why is he covering his eyes? "I don't know what freaky stuff you guys are doing? But why in the kitchen?" He whined.
"What is he talking about?" I looked expectantly at Alex. When he wouldn't answer, I looked pointedly to James and Jaden. Why were all these boys so red? "Can someone please answer me? River." Let the poking begin.
"You really need to stop making those noises." He cringed. What noises? My face must have looked very confused because he elaborated. "You know, the noises." Then he groaned.
"Oh...oh... Ohh!" Now, it clicked.
"Those ones too." He cringed again and turned around so I was facing his back.
Now, it was my turn to turn red- not that it was visible anyways. "Sorry." I squeaked.
"It's not a problem at all." James flashed me a mischievous smile, to which, I grinned back. But then I looked down. That is a very...big...you know what I mean. Insert blushing emoji here.
