Let's Start All Over Again, Shall We (Maggie and Nathaniel) novel Chapter 168

Chapter 168 Unfortunate News

Shawn’s face went white instantly, totally blindsided by the events unfolding at this moment. “Could this be some kind of mistake? 1

He had not been alerted to anything. Might there have been a snag with the shipment tonight?

Unfortunately, the police did not let him explain, briskly saying, “Arrest him!”

Around him, the guests were all whispering and gossiping, their murmurs filling the air.

“I always suspected Shawn would end up in a bind eventually. He’s been too comfortable for too long. making him overly bold.”

“He was never truly a straightforward businessman, so getting caught was a matter of time. I remember hearing years ago that someone suggested he straighten out his business, but he didn’t want to lose out on profits. And now, well, look at this…

“It’s right that he’s facing the music for his actions. If everyone acted like him, what would happen to law- abiding folks like us?”

“But, I’ve heard the Camerons got a good deal of their stock from Shawn recently. If Shawn’s in trouble, the Camerons could be too.”

As these conversations unfolded, many began turning their attention from Shawn to the Camerons.

Shawn had been a well–known figure in the scene for quite some time, with his activities being no secret. Therefore, his arrest did not come as a surprise to many, but the situation with the Camerons was a bit more complex.

The Camerons, newcomers to the jewelry market, had not anticipated this kind of trouble. Moreover, in an effort to reduce expenses, they relied heavily on Shawn for their supplies.

At that moment, Ronald, Master Cameron, and the others looked visibly concerned.

The possibility of Shawn running into trouble at such a critical time was something they had not considered.

“Joseph, check immediately if our shipment has arrived at the port safely, Ronald said, trying to keep his composure while subtly giving instructions to Joseph.

Got it”

Ronald’s primary concern now was whether Shawn’s predicament had impacted their delivery, hoping in had not.

Even if future shipments ran into problems, there would be time to address them. However, not receiving this specific shipment could throw a wrench in Luster Corporation’s plans, complicating the timeline for delivering their jewelry as promised.

Shortly after, Joseph came back but without any updates.

Conversations among the guests hinted at trouble: “Did you catch that news report? They seized a huge haul of smuggled jade stones, surrounded by cops.”

Mon,

Chapter 168 Unfortunate News.

“Jewelry and jade stones, huh? That’s quite a coincidence. Makes you wonder if the Camerons are involved.”

“Looks like the Camerons might have jumped the gun. The Adams have been ruling the jewelry scene for ages, keeping prices up. However, the Camerons have been undercutting them significantly. This suggests they might be sourcing their jade illegally or cutting corners elsewhere.”

“If those confiscated items are indeed the Camerons, they’re in for a rough time. Running such a big operation would be tough if they’re short on raw materials.

As the whispers grew louder, Ronald checked the news on his phone and immediately saw the live footage of the seized cargo.

The scene showed hundreds of officers at work, extracting box after box from a ship under the night sky.

Ronald’s gaze fixed on the ship’s markings, feeling a sense of dread.

“Dad, we’ve looked into it, and it turns out that shipment seized is Shawn’s. They’re keeping a tight watch, so it’s pretty hard to sort things out,” Joseph murmured, his worry evident.

Shawn had been a staple in this industry for more than ten years without a hitch.

They all knew the risks involved, but with Shawn’s strong backing and solid reputation, they thought they could dodge serious trouble for a while longer.

“Mr. Cameron, do the Camerons have enough stock on hand?” a journalist asked right then and there.

“Does this guarantee that all pre–orders from Luster Corporation will be fulfilled as scheduled?” asked another attendee.
