Chapter 17 I Heard I’m Not Good?
Nathael paused for a moment and gazed at the woman in his arms.
She had already fallen asleep. Her long eyelashes were slightly drooping and well–defined. Perhaps due to the wine she had consumed, her lips were rosy and translucent, giving her an innocent and harmless appearance.
Nathael didn’t know who those words were intended for, but he was certain they were not meant for him.
Suppressing his thoughts, he changed her into loose clothing and gently placed her in bed.
The room was dimly lit, emitting a faint warmth.
Nathael sat by the bed, listening to her steady breathing, his eyes growing darker.
Just then, Maggie’s phone rang again.
Initially, Nathael wanted to hang up, but his finger involuntarily paused when he saw the caller ID “Joseph” on the screen.
The phone continued to ring. Nathael frowned as he answered it.
“Hello, Maggie? Why aren’t you responding to my messages? Are you sure the data you copied from Nathael is accurate?”
Joseph’s gentle voice came through the receiver, but his words were particularly harsh.
Nathael tugged at his thin lips, his eyes turning dark and cold.
The Camerons were truly skilled at manipulation. Despite being a prestigious family, they had to rely on a woman to get things done.
“Maggie? Are you listening? I don’t mean anything else. The Adams family is always against us, and our situation is not favorable at the moment. We need to be cautious.”
Not receiving any response, Joseph explained once again.
“Maggie…”
Nathael had no interest in listening any further. He coldly interrupted, “She’s asleep.”
The unfamiliar male voice caused Joseph to pause for a few seconds. He never expected the person on the other end of the phone to be a man..
He subconsciously glanced at the time. It was eleven o’clock at night.
“Who are you? Why are you with Maggie? What have you done to her?” Joseph’s voice was somewhat lagitated.
Unfortunately, Nathael hung up the phone before he could finish his sentence.
Perhaps this call had annoyed him. Nathael simply turned off Maggie’s phone and tossed it aside.
Why could it be Joseph or Ericko, but not him?
Desire surged uncontrollably, like a wild beast breaking free from its cage, wild and unstoppable. Nathael’s long eyelashes cast a shadow in the moonlight.
His gaze swept over her rosy lips. He bent down, restraining himself, and lightly kissed her hair.
“Goodnight, Maggie.”
Maggie had a dreamless night and slept well, but she still felt groggy when she woke up.
She looked at the unfamiliar room and was momentarily dazed.
The simple, spacious bed, the high–quality silver–grey bedding, the excessively cold decoration style… it was clearly not her house.
She sat up and remained stunned for a while. What happened last night?
Her memory seemed to have faded after she drank that wine. But she remembered that this was Nathael’s. house.
Did she actually spend the night at his house?
Looking at her oversized pajamas, Maggie swallowed and felt a bit confused about the situation.
Did they sleep together?
Or not?
This was driving her insane!
Maggie got up and didn’t see Nathael, so she quickly took a shower.
After coming out of the bathroom, she turned on her phone and ignored Joseph’s messages. Then, she “made a video call to Mia.
“Maggie! Where the hell did you go? You didn’t answer my calls all night!”
