Chapter 266 She’s Back

Charlotte’s father was framed by enemies. The king seized the opportunity to reclaim some of his power. Discovering the math, Charlotte was heartbroken and publicly confronted the king, where she embarrassed him. The king was livid.

He bashed Charlotte to a remote palace, where she experienced the harshness of court life. Despite this, the king, who had spent considerable time with her, gradually developed feelings for her. He was moved by compassJOT.

However, Charlotte’s time in the palace was fraught with difficulty. Later, her family was falsely accused, and her sister died a deeply humiliating and tragic death. Charlotte lost several close allies during this period, but she finally realized that only power and status could protect those she cared about and protect her from being humiliated.

Eventually, Charlotte meticulously planned her return to gain the favor of the king. She made a vengeful comeback to the royal court, exacting revenge on those who had wronged her. Yet, as she did so, her love for the king faded completely, replaced by an Affection for a young general.

Maggie analyzed, and Joyce had no problem playing the role in the earlier phase. The character was an aloof, well–educated lady. She always maintained a world–weary aloofness, desiring nothing more than to live peacefully.

The temperament of Charlotte was suitable for Joyce, as she could portray a detached side of the character, but the challenge was the later dark turn, which didn’t quite fit her image.

But Maggie knew that Joyce could do it.

After all, Joyce had endured even more horrific events in her past life than the script described. Despite. her gentle nature, she was far from a saint.

Joyce had the resilience and fortitude to lie low for years, all for the sake of avenging past humiliations.

This was similar to Charlotte’s, but expressed differently.

Maggie was confident that Joyce could convincingly depict Charlotte’s transformation from deceived and hurt to cold and ruthless. A character who abruptly abandons her passive demeanor to participate in manipulative power plays would only intensify her allure.

Once Joyce broke free from certain stereotypes, her future career would broaden significantly, offering her more opportunities.

In this modern era, having more value means having more say and more resources to protect oneself.

“Just so you know, I’ve recently taken an interest in entertainment industry projects. I’ll pick some out and send them to you, Maggie mused.

Joyce was surprised by Maggie’s newfound interest in recent investment ventures. She didn’t think much of it.

Around midnight, they all grew tipsy,

Mia switched from the movie to music, singing loudly every now and then. Fortunately, Maggie’s house was well soundproofed, sparing them any worries about noise complaints.

With flushed checks and her hair casually tied up in a bun, Joyce looked less aloof and more warm.

“Maggie, are you feeling down?” Joyce asked.

Mia turned and asked, “Did Nathael upset you?”

Maggie sighed softly and replied, “He turned me down.”

In short, the two parted on bad terms.

She briefly shared her story, then lowered her eyes and said with a hint of self–mockery, “So now, I feel humilated.”
