Chapter 27 When Will You Return?
A week later, at the Cameron residence.
Olivia spoke to Maggie in a gentle voice, “Maggie, Sierra won first place in the international piano competition. We plan to hold a banquet to celebrate her achievement. However, as you know, the Herschire Cultural Center, which the government owns, is currently undergoing bidding. We plan to take this opportunity to showcase the Cameron family’s construction capabilities.”
Maggie was very cooperative and nodded. “Mom, don’t worry. I’ve heard about the Herschire Cultural Park project. If our family wins the bid, I will definitely do my best to design it.”
Upon hearing Maggie’s words, Olivia nodded in satisfaction.
Maggie smiled, seeming to look forward to it as well.
The Cameron family’s main focus was on construction, but they were also involved in some related real estate and hotel industries. The Camerons had always been ambitious, planning to enter the clothing and jewelry industries in recent years.
However, no matter how much the business expanded, the Camerons always prioritized the construction industry. Unfortunately, the entire construction industry had been in a slump in recent years. In contrast, the Adam family’s main business, the jewelry industry, was thriving. This made the Camerons, who originally saw the Adams as rivals, even more upset.
Coincidentally, Maggie had always been interested in jewelry design and fashion design. However, because she was adopted by the Camerons, she chose architectural design in college.
Perhaps because they were both design–related, there were always similarities.
She was grateful for the Camerons‘ generosity and efforts, so she worked extremely hard. She graduated from the most prestigious architecture program in the country and won several domestic and
international architectural design competitions. She was considered a rising star in the industry with some fame.
Now, the Cameron family’s designers were declining in skill. After experiencing the success of Maggie’s designs, they had high expectations for her.
Olivia looked at Maggie as if she had more to say.
Maggie affectionately held her arm and said softly, “Mom, is there something else you want to say?”
Olivia said softly, “I really shouldn’t be asking this, but you know the financial difficulties the Camerons are facing. So, I was thinking, could you try to invite Mr. Harris to the banquet tomorrow….
“If Mr. Harris attends, others will think that our two families have some connections. I believe many collaborations will be easier to discuss.”
Maggie looked at her, smirking, but she didn’t say anything-she didnt sa
Olivia felt a little uncomfortable under her gaze. But when she looked again, she saw Maggie’s understanding expression, which was devoid of the previous mockery
Maggie was grateful to their family, and they had always treated her well. There was no way she would look at her with such eyes…
“Mom, if I could, I would like to invite him to help our family out. But after what happened at the hotel, Nathael will not only deny it, but also think we were scheming against him. He won’t come.”
Hearing this, Olivia was somewhat disappointed.
In fact, the reason to invite Nathael was not for anything else, but purely to raise the status of her daughter, Sierra.
After all, the banquet tomorrow was held in Sierra’s name. If Nathael could grace them with his presence, others would definitely pay more attention to her daughter in the future. What if… what if Nathael liked. girls like Sierra, then not only Sierra, but the Camerons would also rise to the top.
Olivia knew that the possibility was slim, but there was no mother who didn’t hope for her children to succeed.
Maggie saw through Olivia’s calculations and couldn’t help but smile bitterly.
Yes, if it weren’t for Olivia’s reminder, she might have forgotten about this episode.
In her previous life, Olivia had made the same request, and even though she despised Nathael, she had agreed out of ‘knowing the big picture.
