Lifting the glass, Ronald drained it in one swift motion.

Despite his tolerance for alcohol, the combination of rapid drinking and his age made him cough violently after the first glass, his face reddening with embarrassment.

He looked for any sign of softening in Nathael’s stern expression and signaled Olivia to contact Maggie again.

Nathael wore a cold expression, looking dispassionately at Ronald as he pleaded for Sierra, his eyes dark and inscrutable. Ronald could not fathom his thoughts, but for the first time, he clearly perceived the man’s terrifying presence.
