Chapter 270 Self punishment
proper values in my daughter. To show my remorse, I will drink three glasses as self–punishment on her behalf.
Without applying any pressure on Nathael, Ronald hoped for forgiveness, aiming to salvage some dignity.
The reputation of the Camerons had crumbled; once a distinguished noble family, they had suffered numerous setbacks leading to their fall from grace.
Lifting the glass, Ronald drained it in one swift motion.
Despite his tolerance for alcohol, the combination of rapid drinking and his age made him cough violently after the first glass, his face reddening with embarrassment.
He looked for any sign of softening in Nathael’s stern expression and signaled Olivia to contact Maggie again.
Nathael wore a cold expression, looking dispassionately at Ronald as he pleaded for Sierra, his eyes dark and inscrutable. Ronald could not fathom his thoughts, but for the first time, he clearly perceived the man’s terrifying presence.
It was not just the aura of the Harrises that enveloped him but also the commanding presence inherent to those in power.
Ignoring his discomfort, Ronald picked up another glass of wine and finished it quickly.
Nathael appeared unimpressed, observing Ronald as if he were watching a farcical act. Even the most outrageous behaviour failed to amuse him.
Jimmy, holding a woman in his arms, joked lightheartedly, “Mr. Cameron, you’re quite the drinker. Why not join us for a few more?”
Ronald, heart racing, managed a polite smile in response to Jimmy, T’d rather not impose any further after dampening the evening’s spirits.”
While Nathael was enigmatic and reserved, Jimmy was his polar opposite: unpredictable, impulsive, and. indifferent to social niceries.
Jimmy then suggested, turning to another guest, “How about Ms. Cameron join us for a drink? Ericko, what do you think?”
Ronald’s forced smile briefly faltered.
Ericko. Yes, that Ericko from the Adams.
Ericko was associated with the Adams family, longstanding rivals the Camerons had unsuccessfully. attempted to outdo for years.
As the Adams family thrived, the Camerons lagged increasingly behind.
Ronald had earlier chosen to disregard Ericko’s presence, convincing himself there would be future opportunities to address any issues. However, Jimmy’s direct reference to Ericko now made it impossible for Ronald to continue ignoring him.
Ericko’s demeanour was gentle, and even under the dim and chaotic lighting, he still exuded a serene and clear aura. His presence was cool and noble, yet with threads of chilliness woven through it.
