"We did." Xavi shook his head and continued, "They ran when the police arrived. The police then told us they'd investigate the whole ordeal before leaving."

Skyler chuckled and said, "This place may be run-down, but the corruption runs deep."

"What do you mean?" asked Wilbur.

Skyler chuckled and answered, "Isn't it obvious? The local police are in cahoots with these thugs. My guess is that the initial fifty million dollars has already been used up."

Wilbur said nonchalantly, "There's no one out there who can scam me of my money."

"I believe that, but what are we going to do about this?" asked Skyler while rubbing his hands together.

Wilbur pondered for a moment. He then said slowly, "We'll head into town tomorrow to talk to the person in charge. After that, we'll decide based on how they react. Also, regarding the people who attacked you, have you found out who they are?"

"We asked around, but everyone avoided the subject when we mentioned them. No one is willing to tell us anything. It's as if they're afraid of them."

"Do you have photos or any videos?" asked Wilbur.

Bentley hurriedly said, "I have a photo. I sneakily took it when they were beating Xavi."

"Send it to me."

Bentley hurriedly sent the photo to Wilbur. He then said, "That's the leader, the man with the goatee."

Wilbur zoomed in on the photo. Around ten people were attacking Xavi, and one of them was a short and muscular man with a chubby face and goatee. He was easy to identify.

Wilbur looked at the photo and asked, "Are you sure he's the leader?"

"I'm sure. He brought the men along and instructed them to beat us up," replied Bentley.

Wilbur nodded and said, "Alright, leave the rest to me. Why are you guys staying at a place like this?"

"This project will take at least a year and a half to complete. Staying at a hotel for that long wouldn't be practical, so we rented a house to stay instead," said Xavi.
