Before Chris could finish speaking, Susan rushed into the room.
"It's so pretty and stylish - just the way I like it. I love gold!"
"Ha-ha-ha! I didn't expect that one day I would live in such a luxurious room."
"Even if the Collins knelt and begged me to go back now, I wouldn't."
Susan was acting frantic, screaming with excitement.
Esther was speechless when she saw her mother's reaction.
"Babe, I'm sorry, my mom is overjoyed."
"Don't worry about it! I am just glad she likes it."
There was a hint of hesitation on John's face.
He looked at Chris and said, "Chris, we need to talk."
Chris froze for a moment.
His father-in-law had always been taciturn. But what did he have to say to Chris today?
Chris nodded, and the two came to the corridor.
John pulled out a pack of cigarettes, handed one to Chris, and smoked one himself.
Chris helped John light a cigarette and asked, "Dad, what do you want to talk about?"
John took a deep breath and looked at Chris with complicated eyes.
