Chapter 1227 A Decent Job

To put it simply, for regular employees who still had aspirations to climb the corporate ladder, this was a once-in-a- lifetime opportunity. However, for someone at a managerial level like her, it was rather disappointing.

She already had an annual salary of several hundred thousand dollars. A commission of 1 million was tempting, but it wasn’t a game-changer for her. Even if she succeeded, could she expect the company to promote her to the position of general manager? Moreover, as a woman, she preferred stability, so she wanted to delegate this task to

someone else.

However, she couldn’t think of anyone capable of handling this responsibility. If she simply handed it off to someone and they failed, as the marketing manager, she would still have to take responsibility for it. What a dilemma!

The next morning, she walked out of her neighborhood onto the street. Usually, she drove to work by herself, but because she didn’t sleep well the previous night and had difficulty concentrating, she decided to take a taxi for safety reasons.

However, finding a taxi proved to be challenging, and someone hailed one before her.

Realizing that she was about to be late for work, and considering that the general manager had mentioned discussing the big project with her as soon as she arrived, she couldn’t help but feel anxious.

Just then, upon closer inspection, she was surprised to see that the person who took her taxi was none other than

Shane!

Shane’s gaze traveled up from her black stockings to her ample bosom. After swallowing hard, he recognized Lauren. “Uh, Ms. Pennington, what a coincidence! Do you need a taxi too?”

“Yeah, what a coincidence.” Lauren actually wanted to show her annoyance, but since he was a relative of the general manager, she decided to let it go. The general manager had made it clear that this guy was not his relative and had almost fired him, but that was just for show. Besides, he had personally invited him back later, hadn’t he? All she could say was that the act was not convincing at all.

“Well then, Ms. Pennington, you can take it. I’ll ride a shared bike to work!” Shane was very understanding. Of course. If the woman was not the stunning Lauren but someone unpleasant, he might not be so accommodating.

“Hub? On, thank you!” Lauren gladly accepted his offer. Before getting into the taxi, she said, “I don’t like owing favors if it wasn’t for an emergency. I wouldn’t have taken this taxi Don’t worry! I will definitely repay you for this!”

Haha! MAs Pennington, there’s no need to be formal with me. We’re colleagues, so it’s not a big deal!” Although Shane wasnt particularly generous. Lauren had always be kind to him, so he didn’t take it to heart

Just as he was about to reach his office, he received a phone call. It was actually from Santiago. “Shane, why did you spend so much money on alcohol for me yesterday? Are you involved in some shady business?”

D*mn it! Shane really wanted to curse. He would love to be involved in some shady business and have both money and women, but he needed the looks and the physique for that. On second thought, however, he felt much better; in the whole world, only Santiago truly appreciated him.
