“You’re just a washed–up actress. Worry about yourself, your scandal’s everywhere. Some taste in men you’ve got,” Bobby shot back.
“Even if I went for other guys, I wouldn’t pick a creep like you.” Yvette replied.
Bobby’s temper flared, nobody talked to him like that.
But Trevor’s cold glare cut in. “Keep talking, and you’re out.”
Bobby swallowed his rage and thought to himself. Actresses. Not even as curvy as the chick in my arms.
He squeezed the woman beside him in frustration.
Caleb tried to ease the tension. “It’s my birthday. Let’s keep it fun.”
Bobby thought, Fun, huh?
Bobby texted Peyton the club’s location.
Summer and Yvette sat on one side, opposite of Trevor. Yvette drank to vent, the pricey liquor far better than what she’d had outside. Summer kept watch over her, occasionally glancing at the dance floor, avoiding Trevor entirely. Exes, especially ones who split so messily, were best left ignored. Yet she felt his intense, probing stare, making her uneasy.
After some drinks, the door swung open, and Peyton strutted in uninvited. She wore a lace–trimmed, deep V–neck mini dress, her innocent look clashing with the sexy outfit, like a provocative costume. A guy whistled as she entered. Ignoring it, she plopped down next to Trevor, sitting close.
Trevor frowned but stayed silent. He glanced at Summer, her fair face calm under the lights, her emotions unreadable.
Trevor thought to himself, She used to get jealous, now, she didn’t even blink. Summer, have you really moved on?
Caleb scowled, he hadn’t invited her. “What are you doing here?”
Peyton’s voice was soft. “Caleb, it’s your birthday. I came to celebrate.”
“Celebrate? Thanks, but you’ve seen me. You can go now.” Caleb said.
Bobby piped up. “Didn’t you want it lively? More people, more fun.”
Caleb glared, knowing Bobby was behind this. He looked at Trevor, who said nothing about Peyton staying.
Caleb thought, Fine, Trevor, you deserve losing Summer.
Yvette, tipsy, snorted. “Oh, look, the bitch’s here.”
The room hushed, some women stifling laughs. Peyton’s face flushed. “Yvette, I get that you’re Summer’s friend, but you don’t have to insult me.”
