Chapter 140 The Aftermath

In the hospital. Summer slowly opened her eyes as she lay on the hospital bed.

Julia stood beside her, dabbing at her tears with a silk handkerchief. Summer, how are you feeling? You scared me to death.”

Summer’s voice was hoarse. Wheream I!

You were kidnapped and fell off a cliff. Trevor was injured trying to rescue you. Luckily, the bodyguards arrived in time and saved you both

Summer’s mind slowly pieced together the memories.

The last thing I remembered was Trevor trying to pull me up and the kidnapper hitting him with a wooden plank.

The maid. Leona, helped Summer to sit up.

Ms. Stewart, you’ve been unconscious for a day. Madam was worried sick. Let’s give you some porridge.”

Summer’s body ached as if it had been shattered

Julia picked up the bowl of porridge to feed her.

Summer looked at the offered spoon and pursed her lips.

Let Leona.. do it. You can go back

Julia’s eyes reddened. She wanted to stay, but she was afraid that Summer would find her annoying.

In the end, she left Leona to take care of Summer

Two days later, there was a knock on the door of the hospital room

A nurse wheeled in Trevor, who was sitting in a wheelchair

Summer’s expression remained calm when she saw Trevor. His arm was in a sling, his leg was wrapped in bandages, and his face had several scars. He looked emaciated.

Trevor asked the nurse to leave.

Summer, are youokay?

Trevor had rushed to see her as soon as he woke up. Despite his multiple fractures, he had come as soon as he could sit up.

Summer calmly replied. Thanks to you. I’m not dead.

Seeing that Summer was still able to reply, Trevor smiled, even though the movement tore at his wounds and made him wince in pain.

Summer put down the sketchbook in her hands.

I’ve been kidnapped twice because of you, so I won’t feel guilty. You can leave now

Trevor frowned.

He thought that Summer was referring to the time when he didn’t choose her.

Trevor said painfully, I didn’t mean to not choose you back then.

Chapter 140 The Aftermath

Just make sure your crazy wife doesn’t come after me again. She was involved in this kidnapping

Trevor’s jaw clenched as if he couldn’t believe what he was hearing.

Peyton wouldn’t do such a thing

Believe what you want.

Summer shut him out completely.

Please leave. Mr. Larson. I need to rest.

Trevor gave her a deep look before slowly turning his wheelchair and leaving.

Whether Peyton was involved or not, I had to get to the bottom of this.

A while later, the door to the hospital room opened again.

Summer frowned, thinking that Trevor had returned to bother her.

Why are you back?

She looked up to see a tall, imposing figure standing at the door.

Finished

The man was wearing a cool gray shirt, its simple design with the top two buttons undone. His long legs were clad in black dress pants.

He stood against the light, and Summer couldn’t see his face clearly.

But she could sense his noble bearing, his sharp, dark eyes cold and distant.

Summer blinked, surprised to see him.

Her hand loosened, and the sketchbook fell from the bed.

Fraser stepped in, his expression indifferent. He bent down, picked up the sketchbook, and put it back into her hands.
