Chapter 159 She Was His First Love
Connie was satisfied to see the crowded lobby
“Hey, Connie.” Clarissa soon spotted Connie. “Let’s go.”
“Okay, give me a minute. I have to pass my car keys to someone.” Connie reached for the keys in her bag
Joseph, who was standing in the lobby, turned his face to the billboard and pretended to read the leaflets there the moment he saw the crowd exiting the lift.
No one seemed to have noticed Joseph.
“Oh, right. Clarissa, is he your husband?” Connie asked all of a sudden, making sure she raised her voice.
“What? Who?” Clarissa still hadn’t seen Joseph.
Instinctively, Clarissa thought that Damien had arrived. Her expression grew serious as her eyes scanned the crowd
When her colleagues heard the words ‘Clarissa’ and ‘husband’, they stopped in their tracks and shifted their eyes on her.
After all, President Lawrence and Clarissa were always the topics of gossip.
Everyone gathered around to listen to the drama that was about to ensue.
“I’m talking about Joseph. I saw you guys that night,” Connie said.
At this point, everyone had surrounded Clarissa and Connie.
The workers around began to giggle as they watched Connie making a fool of herself.
Nobody had told her anything that went on in the company. Right now, they were all waiting for Connie to embarrass herself even further.
Connie, still unaware of the truth, thought her colleagues were laughing at Clarissa for having an incompetent husband.
Right at this moment, Damien and Ray had just returned to the company.
Standing outside the crowd, they could see and hear everything loud and clear.
“Huh? When did you see us together?” Clarissa’s eyes went wide with disbelief, ‘What nonsense is she cooking up? Why is she doing this to me in front of everyone?’
“It was during Easter night. I saw the two of you watching the fireworks together while chatting merrily with each other. After that, you guys even went back to the hotel together. Isn’t he your husband?”
Noticing that Clarissa was being put in a tight spot, Joseph wanted to explain.
But Clarissa, who was now being thrust into the limelight, was feeling extremely awkward.
Without bothering to leave any explanation, she left.
Jostling through the crowd from the side, she didn’t spot Damien outside.
Clarissa now knew Connie had lied about wanting to visit her mother. Connie called her down here just to humiliate her in front of everyone!
