Chapter 229 She Was Really Pregnant The next day, Damien went to work.
Clarissa packed her luggage and left the villa.
She had already booked her plane ticket the night before.
Before the plane took flight, she received a text message from her bank. Damien had transferred one hundred million dollars to her account.
Aside from that, his assistant had sent her a WhatsApp message. He had sent her the locations of the two houses in Genovia, along with photos of the house deeds and the details of the ownership transfer.
It had been a long time since Clarissa had last received a message from this number.
In fact, she had been very confused when she had first received his messages because she had saved his number as “President Shaw, computer company”.
She had wondered why he was sending her information about houses.
President Shaw: (I’m President Lawrence’s assistant, and this is my personal number. If you face any problems in the future, Mrs. Lawrence, you can always contact me at this number.] Clarissa smiled bitterly. How long had Damien been lying to her? He hadn’t trusted her right from the start, and had set up traps for her everywhere. She turned her phone off, and the plane took flight. Joseph picked her up at the airport. In the car, he said, “You went back for so long. Are you tired?”
“It was pretty tiring to have a nocturnal schedule, but from now on…” She looked out the window, unable to stop herself from feeling melancholic. “It’s all over.”
“You and him… are you two divorced?” Joseph asked.
“Yeah.” The moment Clarissa said this, a wave of nausea washed over her. She suppressed it.
However, it only became worse.
“Did you eat something bad?” he asked.
“I don’t think so,” she answered. She tried to recall whether there had been any egg yolk in the food she’d had on the plane, but nothing came to mind. “Let’s get someone to look at you.” Joseph continued, “I have a personal doctor, and I can get him to check on you.” Clarissa nodded.
At Joseph’s place.
After the doctor checked on Clarissa, his preliminary diagnosis was that she was pregnant.
Both she and Joseph were shocked to hear this.
“Doctor, is there any possibility that you could be wrong?” she asked.
She knew very well to whom the child belonged. She had only been with one man, so who else could it be?
Clarissa guessed that it had been conceived on the night before her exam, but she’d made Damien wear a condom.
Had it slipped off because they’d been at it for too long?
The doctor spread his hands. “If you want to be sure, you can go to the hospital for a checkup. It’s also good for you to get a proper examination done.”
Clarissa was still taken aback even after the doctor had left.
She was divorced and pregnant.
Of course, Damien wouldn’t think that the baby was his. He thought that she was already pregnant at that time.
But she wanted to do her master’s, and she wanted to be an accountant. She couldn’t allow the baby to hold her back.
If she really was pregnant, she couldn’t continue with her studies…
Clarissa raised her hands and smacked her abdomen.
