Chapter 6 He Wanted to Torture Her
When Damien saw Clarissa standing at the door, he knew she had regretted her choice.
He scorned her even more for playing hard to get. She had overestimated her capabilities.
Clarissa was well alert. After all, she was there to beg Damien. There was an inevitable hint of flattery in her voice.
“You’re early, President Lawrence.”
“Not as early as you.” After speaking, Damien opened the door and sat on his office chair. He turned on his computer and went through some documents.
“Do you have any business with me?” Damien asked Clarissa indifferently with a cold tone.
His voice was hoarse. Clarissa suddenly remembered that he did not have an umbrella when it rained heavily last night. So, she quickly asked, “Did you catch a cold, President Lawrence? Drink more water. Do you have any medicine?”
This could be a minor or severe matter. One time, Clarissa’s father worked extra hours in the rain on the construction site and was bedridden for a few days.
“Get to the point.” There was a slight annoyance in Damien’s voice.
Clarissa’s concern sounded insincere to him.
Clarissa bit the bullet and asked, “President Lawrence, is your offer from yesterday still available?”
“What?” Damien did not even raise his head.
Clarissa thought, ‘Is he pretending? Or did he really forget?’
She raised her voice, “It’s about your marriage proposal.” Her tone was a little shaky.
Damien looked as if he had just understood her words. “Oh, that? What about it?”
Clarissa had expected Damien to act this way. Once she began begging him, he would put on airs.
Despite that, she had no choice. After all, she had lost the upper hand. At the moment, she was at his mercy.
“Do you still need someone to marry?” Clarissa tried to sound as if she was flattering him.
Damien could sense it.
“Yes.”
He lit a cigarette and sat on his office chair calmly while staring at Clarissa.
