Clarissa turned her lead to look out of the window. She decided to ignore Darnien after that.

He always had the tendency to spoil the mood with unnecessary comments.

“Where are you going for your business trip?” Clarissa asked, changing the topic. “Why didn’t you tell me in advance?”

“I’m returning to Florin. Don’t tell Grandpa anything about this.” “Isn’t it just a business trip? Why don’t you want to let him know?” Clarissa cocked her head and looked at Damien, somewhat surprised.

“Just don’t say anything to him. Tell him I’m on a business trip.”

“Wait, so it’s not a business trip?”

Damien no longer answered hier questions. He merely stared ahead of him, looking like he didn’t want to be disturbed at the moment.

Clarissa thought angrily, ‘Fine! Keep it a secret, then! Hmph!’

After that, she spent the next three weeks in the Lawrence residence. Nothing much happened during that period of time. What surprised and delighted Clarissa was that Grandpa Lawrence’s condition didn’t deteriorate at all. In fact, he was showing signs of recovery. Every morning, he would take regular walks outside. He would also go for an occasional swim or two while paying attention to his diet. It was obvious that he had the confidence and a strong resolve to fight his illness. There were times when Clarissa would go on walks and swim with Grandpa Lawrence.

She even told him one time, “Grandpa, you’re really impressive! Not only are you overcoming your fate, but you’re also enjoying every aspect of your life while battling your illness!” All Grandpa Lawrence did in return was smile Clarissa had a feeling that he wanted to meet his great-grandson very badly, hence his motivation to keep living. What if he found out that she wasn’t pregnant with Damien’s child? Just how disappointed would he be?
