I looked Leonard right in the eye, trying to detect a single trace of reluctance. However, his eyes were completely calm.
"I remember." I sounded casual, but I could not conceal the bitterness in my heart.
Once he was dressed, he threw a bank card on the bed.
"There's a million dollars in there. Take it as my compensation for the past six months. I'm getting married soon, so I hope that we can end things on a clean note."
"What? What do you take me for?"
I was not with him for money, but his deciding to use money to resolve this was a low blow.
"Don't take things the wrong way. That's not what I meant."
He sounded breezy, but it still hurt. At the very least, I wanted to preserve some of my dignity.
"I may not be as rich as you are, but that doesn't mean that you can just throw some money at me and use me as you wish. We only started this to satisfy our physical needs!"
I did not want to make my utter defeat so obvious, but I ended up losing my temper anyway. I broke the bank card in half and threw it right at his face.
His lips twitched, but he remained void of emotion. Without another word, he turned and left the hotel room.
After Leonard left, I could not get myself to calm down. It felt like there was a ball of frustration in my heart.
I grabbed my phone to block his WeChat and delete his phone number.
In the following days, I focused most of my attention on work and successfully closed a few huge deals for the company. In my leisure time, I had drinks with May.
