Love or Die: CEO’ s Daily Dose of Swoon (Cordelia) novel Chapter 222

The entire classroom fell into a stunned silence.

Keen was completely flabbergasted. "Investigate Lucille? I thought the folks from Superiority College were here to look into Cordelia's case?"

The few staff members were equally baffled. "Our orders were based on complaints about Lucille's ethical conduct. We've gathered some evidence that Lucille accepted bribes from students' parents, compromising the integrity of the Autumn Gold Academic Bootcamp exams. Our visit today is merely to observe his behavior in the school environment."

At these words, Queenie's legs gave way, and she collapsed onto her chair with a loud thud.

Beside her, Daisy, who had been anxiously red-eyed, stared incredulously first at Cordelia and then at the staff members...

Suddenly, Daisy remembered the cool demeanor of the "academic god" from the day before, even playing video games into the night. She couldn't shake off the feeling that this composure was because he knew this whole affair was a non-issue!

She swallowed hard, wondering if this situation was somehow related to the "academic god."

After the room had quieted down, one of the staff members turned to Everard, "Could you elaborate on how exactly Lucille insulted you? And the harm he caused?"

Everard smiled faintly, eyes downcast. "Oh, I forgot."

The staff member was at a loss for words.

With the evidence against Lucille already mounting, the staff's presence was more of a formality than anything.

Seeing Everard withhold information, the team asked a few more questions around for details before finally taking their leave.

Once they had gone, all eyes in the classroom turned to Queenie.

Pale as a ghost, she dashed to the doorway as soon as the coast was clear, stopping Waldron. "Waldron, where's my uncle?"

Waldron sighed. "He's been detained today and won't be able to come to work for a while."

Queenie gulped. "When will he be able to return?"

"That depends on the authorities. And if his guilt is confirmed, he might never return," Waldron explained.

Near tears, Queenie pulled out her phone and rushed outside. "I need to call my dad!"

The classroom buzzed with the sudden turn of events.

Everyone who had anticipated Cordelia's downfall now cast sympathetic looks her way. Even her dorm mates approached her with guilty expressions, "Genius, we... are sorry. Can you forgive us?"

Cordelia gave them a look before slowly responding, "There's nothing to forgive because I never blamed you in the first place."

It wasn't that she was a saint.

To her, these two were never in the "friends" category to begin with.

To Cordelia, the fondness or disdain of strangers meant nothing.

Unaware of how challenging it was to be considered Cordelia's friend, they sighed in relief, not realizing what they had missed.
