It was a bright morning, and Quinn decided a jog wouldn't be a bad idea. She stretched her limbs slowly as she stood up from her bed. Wait, she had a business meeting with the CEO of the Corporation she was to sign a deal with.
In order to become powerful, partnership with big companies wasn't a bad idea. "It seems my morning jog has to be cancelled for now." She smiled. Her mind wandered to her daughter; why hasn't she come to greet her? It was so unusual for Emelda not to pester her. What was wrong with her little pumpkin?
She breezed out of the room and headed straight to her daughter's bedroom. Without Knocking, she pushed the door open.
"Emel..." Her words stuck in her throat when she saw her daughter. She was crumpled up on the bed as she lay shivering.
"Emelda!!" She screamed as she rushed straight to the bed, her heart beating faster than normal. She placed her hand on her daughter's forhead, "Shit, baby..." She shook her daughter gently.
Emelda was unconscious, and Quinn frantically went in search of her cellphone. Dialing a number, she placed it close to her ears.
"Prepare the car,my daughter is unconscious; it's an emergency!" She anxiously screamed.
In less than five minutes, Avie rushed into the room. They hurried to Emelda's room with the speed of light. Scooping her up, Quinn hurried downstairs, she was panicking....
"President, calm down, she will be fine." Avie assured. She hurriedly opened the car door and Quinn sat on the passenger's seat, placing Emelda on her lap.
"Drive." She said in a cracked voice.
"Yes President." Avie started the car and zoomed off to Visco Hospital. It was the best hospital in California with competent doctors....
===============
Quinn stared at her daughter with complex emotions. How? How was it possible? Sickle cell Anemia? She was very healthy,so how?
'Henry...' A single thought crossed her mind.
Emelda lay on the bed with a pale expression. Her heart wrenched in pain; her daughter was suffering. If not for her sudden temperature,Quinn would have been in the dark.
The door opened at that moment, and someone came in. Without turning,Quinn knew it was Stephen. She sighed and sat on the chair beside Emelda's bed.
"What's wrong?" Stephen queried with a worried look plastered on his face.
Quinn bent her head without responding. Her action alarmed Stephen. He walked to her and patted her shoulders. At this moment, Quinn released the tears she was holding back.
"S...she.. was ...d.. diagnosed...w..with sickle cell Anemia." She choked out with heaving chest.
"What? How is that possible? This is bad." Stephen asked her rhetorically.
He pulled her up and enveloped her in a warm hug. She needed all the consolation she could get.
"It's okay,I'm here for you." Stephen patted her back gently.
Quinn cried her eyes out; she couldn't bear to see anything happen to her precious daughter. She was all she got.
Stephen hugged her as different thoughts crossed his mind. He always felt something when he was close to Quinn. She struck a cord in him that no one has ever did. He always tried not to show it in his actions.
How could he?
Quinn was an independent woman with a domineering attitude. This was the first time he ever saw her break down; her daughter was the only person capable of making her frantic.
