Love You Like I Used To Forget It (Millie Bridge) novel Chapter 44

Chapter 44

He had told me I had a dirty mind, that everything I saw wa tainted. He said I was smallminded and couldn’t tolerate anyone, that it was my sister, his lifesaver, and how could I think that way?

When confronted with my scornful look, Irvin couldn’t continue his argument. He knew better than anyone how he had responded to my repeated questions in the past.

After a long silence, he yanked his tie off in frustration and threw it on the couch. Emilia, you and I are not the same!

How are we not the same? Is it because I’m just purely grateful for his lifesaving favor, while you’re using it as an excuse to manipulate me, torment me, drive me crazy?

Irvin knew. He knew there should be distance and boundaries between men and women. He knew he had crossed that line before, yet he still did it.

He still turned it all around and blamed me.

There was only one reason. He wanted to torture me, make my life miserable, drive me crazy, and then play the role of the perfect partner with Julianne, without having to split any of his wealth.

Suddenly, Irvin stepped forward and grabbed both of my shoulders. I never wanted to drive you crazy!

If you didn’t, then why treat me like this? You can’t deny how everything you do is for Julianne, how you always prioritize her, how you choose her life over mine, and how much pain that causes me?

Irvin opened his mouth as if to say something, but his hands tightened around my shoulders. In the end, he said nothing.

Irvin, don’t be so petty. You can’t have it both ways,I said tiredly. I was truly done with this endless backand- forth.

Don’t tell me I never wronged you. Even if I did, I think I’ve paid for it with all the years of torment you’ve put me through. Can’t we just part on good terms?

Torment? You actually think these years between us were nothing but torment?

If it wasn’t torment, then what was it? Do you think I was happy all these years? Do you think you treated me well?I asked, unable to understand how Irvin had the nerve to say such things to hurt me.

He gazed at me intensely and said, You deserved all of it! Emilia, after what you did, you can’t just walk away without consequences! Forget about divorce. It will never happen!

I frowned, just about to ask what exactly I had done to deserve his socalled punishment, but he didn’t wait for me to speak. He left without another word.

I hated it when he walked away like that, leaving things unresolved.

What made it worse was that when I called to demand answers, he wouldn’t pick up.

Just as I was about to leave out of sheer frustration, a message from Irvin popped up on my phone.

Don’t even think about leaving the house. If you leave, I’ll ruin Shaun. I’ll make sure his reputation and he’ll never set foot in the academic world again!

stroyed,

Seeing his threat, I was so furious my whole body trembled. When he refused to answer my calls, my hands shook as I typed out a message, Irvin, I’m trying to part ways peacefully. Don’t push me into hating you!

Irvin stared at the message I had sent, gripping his phone so tightly it looked like he was about to crush it.

In the end, I didn’t leave Elmswood Villa. After everything Shaun had done for me, there was no way I could repay A kindness with betrayal and drag him into this mess.

However, I didn’t surrender, either. If he wanted a fight, fine. It was his ruin either way.
