Chapter 11

At breakfast, Andrew worked through his food while Rowan reported work–related matters. At the same time, Madelyn glared at Rowan unhappily for not offering. Andrew a moment of peace at breakfast time.

She bit hard into the pancake and immediately groaned in pain. That hurt!

Rowan happened to be reporting the most crucial details to Andrew, and he fumed when–Madelyn interrupted his reporting. He thought, “Ugh, it’s that devil again!”

Andrew looked at Madelyn and saw her pressing a hand against her mouth in pain. He placed the document on the table and approached her. Lifting her up from her seat, he asked, “What’s wrong? Let me take a look.”

“I bit my tongue. It hurts.”

It was all Rowan’s fault for discussing work at breakfast. She bit too hard on her. tongue until it started bleeding. She cast a disgruntled look at Andrew, who said to Rowan, “Rowan, please head to the office first.”

“But Mr. Miller, these documents are…

“I’ll be in the office this morning!” After that, Andrew shifted all his attention to Madelyn.

Meanwhile, Rowan stared at Madelyn and doubted that Andrew could make it to the office this morning.

Andrew, when spotting the blood in her mouth, frowned. “Look, you’re bleeding. What’s the rush? No one is eyeing your food.

“What do I do?” she asked.

The wound really hurt. She looked at him tearfully, and he blew on her mouth with much sympathy. “Feeling better?”

“It still hurts.” His crisp, refreshing scent eased the pain, yet she refused to such a good opportunity to flirt with him.

He suggested, “How about I send you to the hospital?”

Speechless, she thought, “I don’t want the hospital staff to think of me as a little bitch for asking to go to the hospital over a bitten tongue.”

She thought about it. Then, she shook her head and dismissed the idea, “I’m not going.”

David showed up with a first aid kid and handed the smiling Andrew a bottle of ointment. The ointment gave a cool sensation, which helped to soothe the pain.

“Darling, are you going to the office later?” She shot a worried look at his left chest.

Just now, she noticed the scabs growing on his scar when she dressed his wound, but she remained concerned about his injury. After all, he nearly died yesterday from the medicine that had been tampered with.

He replied, “I need to work on some important documents. I’ll be back by noon.”

“I want to go with you,” she blurted out without thinking.

Andrew was a workaholic. Once he stepped out of the house, he might not make it back at noon as promised.

He seemed surprised when she offered to go to work with him. Staring at her in disbelief, he exclaimed, “Are you going with me?”

“Yeah. Anything wrong?” Then, she turned to David. “Please get me the first aid box left behind by Dr. Patel. It’s upstairs.”

“Sure, Mrs. Miller.” In David’s opinion, Andrew and Madelyn appeared rather loving, which was a stark contrast to how they were portrayed in the rumors about their relationship problems. He couldn’t help but think that the rumors were extremely misleading.

Andrew looked deep into Madelyn’s eyes. “You don’t have to. Ivan will be at my office,

She furrowed her brows. “Are you saying I can’t be around if Ivan is already there?” “Of course not!” Emotions grew in Andrew’s eyes when he observed her concern for him. His heart melted into a puddle.

Soon, David brought the first aid kid for Madelyn. She ran a thorough check on Andrew’s wound before going upstairs for a change of outfit.

Andrew grinned at her when she reemerged with a haute couture attire that he had specially designed for her.

In the past, Madelyn would never touch anything that he gifted her. He could only hope it was true that she had changed because she no longer allowed Elena to drive a wedge between them.

The thought of the Garcias enraged him,

“Darling, you have great taste. I love this fit Madelyn ran up to Andrew and twirled

happily. No doubt, the attire he designed sulted her the best.

Andrew might trust Madelyn, but the people around him seemed wary of her. 

After Ivan left, Rowan departed for the meeting room to make the necessary arrangements. At that moment, a secretary entered Adrew’s office with a cup of coffee. 

Before she could protest, Elizabeth purred out the words, “Mr. Miller, according to Mr. Hart, the divorce papers are ready to be signed. When should I deliver them to Ms. Garcia?”
