Chapter 33
David handed the analysis report to Madelyn.
Madelyn felt a sense of foreboding. She took it and glanced at the report. When she saw the words “birth control pills” on the report, she went numb and cold at once.
Her breathing became uneven as she closed her eyes.
David said heavily, “The doctor said that the dosage in the food is very high. I advise both you and Mr. Miller to go and get a medical check–up.”
No wonder she and Andrew hadn’t had any children before they got divorced. Whenever they had intercourse, they never used any protection. He must have really wanted to have a child with her.
Even though Madelyn kept kicking up a fuss, Andrew probably thought that she would settle down if she had a child. However, there was no sign of a child for a long time.
It turned out that Elena was behind it.
When Andrew came down neatly dressed, he saw Madelyn sitting on the couch and looking very pale. David was beside her, asking, “Shall I make an appointment with the doctor?”
When Andrew heard the mention of doctors, his footsteps quickened.
Madelyn turned when she heard the sound, and her eyes filled with tears at once when she saw that it was him.
Andrew reached her and hugged her at once. “Darling, tell me what’s wrong. Shall I take you to the hospital right now?”
Madelyn held on to him, sobbing so much that she could hardly breathe.
David retreated quietly, leaving the reat to Madelyn..
Andrew saw the report on the coffee table and picked it up instinctively. Madelyn didn’t stop him and let him read it on his own.
When Andrew saw that the analysis report concluded that the substance was birth control pills, his expression turned cold at once. In his arms, Madelyn felt the dangerous energy he was emanating.
He laughed in a low voice. “Darling, is this because you don’t want to have a baby?”
He was smiling, but there was an unmistakably stern note in his tone.
Madelyn looked up miserably. “I didn’t take this of my own accord.”
“Really?” Andrew looked down, pretending to be doubtful. He wouldn’t have been sure about it in the past, but he was sure that she would never take that kind of thing now.
He could immediately guess the source of the birth control pills in the report.
Madelyn was terrified that he would not believe her. She said urgently, “It really wasn’t me. Darling, trust me.”
Madelyn was very agitated. In the end, she fell into Andrew’s arms and sobbed convulsively. Andrew was afraid that she would throw up from crying so much, so he kept comforting her, “It’s alright. Don’t cry anymore.”
