If Melany hit Jewel’s pregnant belly head–on, Jewel’s baby would certainly be at risk. 

Even though Melany refused to acknowledge the baby, Chris had claimed that the child wasn’t his but lan’s posthumous child. If anything happened, it would mean the end of the Goodwin family’s bloodline.

It was a dangerous spiral toward mutual destruction.
