"Please take a seat," Xander said as he guided Brandon and me to our seats.
He didn't seem at all like the big boss he was supposed to be.
Because of this, I was sure that if it weren't for Brandon's hidden identity, Xander would never be acting this way.
"Mr. Roulder," I called out to him. "You're the boss, and we're the employees. Isn't it a bit inappropriate for you to be so attentive to us?"
Xander paused for a moment. He glanced at Brandon and then smiled. "There's nothing inappropriate about it. We're all colleagues here, like family."
I gave a teasing smile. "But you're still the boss. For you to treat us this way makes us a little uneasy."
"Mr. Roulder, you don't have to be so polite. Otherwise, we might not enjoy this meal in peace," Brandon chimed in.
Xander quickly waved his hands. "Don't overthink it. I'm just someone who doesn't put on airs and doesn't like to be formal. I prefer to keep things friendly, right, Mr. Howell?"
"You're too friendly." Brandon didn't waste his breath
Compared to Xander, Brandon looked more like the real boss.
Xander chuckled. Then, his phone, which was resting on the table, beeped twice. He picked it up, glanced at the screen, and stood up. "Please excuse me for a moment. I need to go meet someone."
I was taken aback. "Mr. Roulder, did you invite someone else today?"
"Yes, I did. Someone you've been wanting to meet." Xander gave me a playful wink.
His wink made me shiver a little.
At that moment, I heard Brandon clear his throat. "Mr. Roulder, is there something wrong with your eye? Do you need me to get you some eye drops?"
I almost burst out laughing.
Xander caught on to what Brandon was implying and shook his head lightly. "Mr. Howell, there's no need to be so petty."
"When it comes to my woman, I can't help it." Brandon owning up to his possessiveness.
