Mrs. Winters‘ complexion turned pale. 

She knew that this would be the outcome, but she was not willing to give up. She insisted on asking him. 

Her two sons, who only lived together in harmony for a few brief months as infants, had been enemies ever since they first met in their teens. 

Both of them were her sons. She did not know whose side to choose.
