Clarissa had repeated the thought in her head countless times, but nothing was happening outside. She couldn’t understand why Mr. Dunn hadn’t acted. The moment seemed perfect—everyone was distracted, looking at the evidence and whispering. It was the ideal time to set the house on fire. 
What Clarissa didn’t know was that Mr. Dunn had tried to follow the plan. But when he went to have gasoline poured around the mansion, he discovered that the barrels had been secretly replaced with water. There wasn’t even a hint of gasoline when he opened the lids. To confirm, they tried igniting the liquid, but it wouldn’t burn. Their gasoline had been swapped out without anyone noticing. 
Mr. Dunn began to panic. 
He thought back to their plan. Only a select few trusted people knew about it. Even those helping him tonight had only learned the full details right before they executed it. There was no way they had the opportunity to replace so much gasoline without being noticed. 
But who could have done it? 
Mr. Dunn suspected Audrey’s group. He had already taken precautions against the Bucham family, thinking that they might be involved. Yet, there was no sign of the head of the Bucham family or its young master in Jensburg. Even Josh was nowhere to be found. So if it wasn’t the Buchams, who could have done it? 
Was it a hidden force from Wiltspoon? Perhaps the Lafayette family? But they had just arrived in Jensburg a couple of days ago and likely didn’t even know the full story. How could they have replaced the gasoline? 
Meanwhile, Clarissa, standing in the yard under the scrutinizing eyes of everyone, waited in vain for the mansion to burst into flames. 
The evidence Mr. Jimenez had painstakingly gathered was not handed to Clarissa but shown to her children before returning to Audrey. Clarissa couldn’t help but challenge them. 
“Audrey, Mr. Jimenez, if you believe this evidence proves I killed my eldest sister, why don’t you show it to me? I think you made it all up. You’re trying to disgrace me to take over as matriarch. You called all these reporters to destroy my reputation with baseless claims. But I tell you, I have nothing to hide. I didn’t harm my sisters. 
It’s you, Mr. Jimenez, who disappeared all those years ago, making you the real suspect. I suspected you of killing my sister! You must’ve told Audrey I was chasing you down to silence you, but the truth is, I was trying to avenge my eldest sister. You killed her, and when you ran, I sent people after you.” 
Mr. Jimenez responded coldly, “How loyal is Mr. Dunn to you? Assistants like us serve the head of the family with our lives. We are loyal in life and death. There’s no secondguessing our loyalty. 
Clarissa, you accuse me of killing the head of the family because you didn’t trust me as her assistant. Have you distrusted Mr. Dunn for all these years too? I pity him—he’s worked tirelessly for you, but you still doubt him. And speaking of trust, why did you have Mr. Fraser placed so closely with your daughter?”
