Adam had no choice but to take off Lumma’s right sleeve first and then carefully take off her left sleeve.
The down jacket and the cardigan were easy to take off. But if the bottoming shirt was taken off, she would be naked. Adam looked at Lumma, “I’m going to tear off your left sleeve.”
Lumma blinked her watery eyes. “Can you tear it off?”
Adam stabilized her injured arm with one hand and pulled her sleeve hard with the other. The sleeve was torn off from the connecting line. Adam’s strength was far greater than Lumma had imagined.
In an instant, the wound in her fair arm was before his eyes. The wound was about the size of a fist, the flesh shattered and the blood gushing.
Adam’s face turned dark when he saw it, but Lumma was still smiling as if she didn’t feel the pain. “Mr. Hills, you have great strength.”
Without any hesitation, Adam tore off his white shirt to wrap her wound.
Lumma gritted her teeth in pain, with tears welling up in her eyes, but she didn’t scream out…
Adam said, “Scream out when it hurts. No one will laugh at you.
Lumma’s lips turned white from the pain, but she still tried her best to smile. “The pain is nothing, and it’s bearable.”
Ever since he knew her, she seemed to be smiling all the time and rarely showed any other expressions. Such a person was very suitable to be his assistant.
But at this moment, Adam felt that her smile was very annoying. “Why do you put up with it?”
Why did she put up with it?
It seemed that no one had asked Lumma this question before. She vaguely remembered that people in the neighborhood often laughed at her for being a jinx after her father died in a car accident. Presumably, she had learned to live with the pain of the moment.
Lumma’s grandma lived a hard life because she had to support her son and Lumma. Lumma didn’t want to cause trouble for her grandma, so she learned to restrain herself.
Lumma smiled but didn’t answer.
Adam asked again, “Are there any other injuries?”
