Anita didn’t say anything.
Adam smoked and said, “Judy, take her away right now and stay away from this kind of person in the future.”
“Anita, let’s get out of here.” Today Adam was particularly scary. Judy was very sensible, dragged Anita, and fled from the villa.
They got in the car.
Judy patted her chest in shock. “Anita, I told you. My brother has a very strong sense of personal territory. I took you there without telling him in advance, so he’ll be upset.”
Anita glanced back. The car was moving slowly, farther and farther away from the villa she had dreamed of living in.
She couldn’t get the image of Adam and Lumma together out of her mind.
She knew better than anyone how much Adam rejected women. She had approached him in countless ways before, but he had turned her away.
Lumma was the only young girl she had ever seen who could get so close to Adam.
They were so close that it was as if no one else could interfere.
The more Anita thought about it, the more annoyed she became. “He has a strong sense of personal territory. Why does that woman have free access to his house? Why can she
be so close to him?”
Judy asked, dumbfounded, “Which woman? My sister-in-law? She cheated on him, but they are married. Isn’t it right for her to go in and out of their house?”
If Anita didn’t know Judy so well, Anita would have thought Judy intended to piss her
off. “Judy, are you pissing me off?”
