The bleeding blonde girl on the ground did not want to die. She wanted to go back home, back to her mama, but the chaos around her was just too much for her to bear.
With her throbbing and bleeding forehead, where the blood had rolled to her lids and, by sheer stroke of luck, avoided her eyes, she lay on the ground, hearing the sounds of the fight around her and being unable to move after that hideous creature had dropped her on the ground for the fourth time now.
Whenever she tried to run away, he would reach and catch her by the neck and lift her off the ground, and when his others came at her to get her, he would drop her not so gently and go back to fight them off. He fought like the monster he was, and he terrified her as much as she loathed him.
His face was carved into her memories as he had been the one to come running at their carriage and hit it until it tumbled down the road. She had seen him in the rain through the window, running to them, and he had been the same vampire who had grabbed her neck and yanked her out of the vehicle to eat her.
The monster had caused her pain, and she did not want to be where he was. The fifth time she tried to get away from him and he caught her by the neck, she passed out when he dropped her again and she hit her head against a boulder.
When the little girl woke up again, her head was pounding, her vision blurry, and she could barely make out where she was.
A soft dripping sound of water echoed nearby, and as she turned her head to the sound, she noticed a faint, triangular shape through the haze of her sight. Muted light filtered in from it, and water trickled down from above, and she tried to wonder what she was staring at.
She stared at it, blinking slowly, until her vision cleared just enough to realize what she was looking at: the entrance to a cave.
She tried to sit up, but the pain in her head did not allow it. However, knowing that she was not in her home or with her mama, she did not give up on sitting despite the pain.
When she finally sat up, she saw that a fire was burning not far away from where she sat and that someone was sitting there with their back against the stone wall of the cave. Her young little heart leaped, and she stared at the unfamiliar person who seemed to be sleeping and breathing strangely.
Belle raised her small hand and touched it to her throbbing head, only to grimace in pain, her eyes pricking with tears. She touched her fingers to the piece of cloth tied around her forehead as if to stop the bleeding, and then she looked at the person across from her again.
Had this person saved her from those monsters? she wondered with pouted lips and teary eyes.
She wanted nothing more than to go to her mama, but as she tried to move and to leave to find her way to her mother, she heard the voice of the person.
