Married To The Mad Vampire Lord novel Chapter 231

Chapter 231: Nightmare_The Death Date_Part 1

Belle felt her heart swell, overflowing with warmth at Rohan’s reassurance. She knew she loved him so deeply she could give anything just to be with him until the end of her human life, but doubts and insecurities were constant thoughts that involuntarily crept into her mind from time to time. There were days when it all felt too good to be real, and she feared that a day might come when he wouldn’t want her anymore.

Especially if she turned out to be something entirely bad.

In all her years growing up, Rohan was the first person to ever pay this much attention to her, to truly care for her and give her everything she needed without making her feel like she had to earn it, without making her feel like a burden on his shoulders the way her own family had always made her feel. She had always come last to them, so much that she’d dimmed herself unworthy. She had never been a first to anyone... until now.

Until this man—this husband she had married under forced circumstances—but who had unexpectedly turned out to be the best thing that ever happened to her.

Even now, though a part of her still feared that one day her parents and the king of Aragonia might come hunting her down for her betrayal, for abandoning the mission she had been sent for, she knew that with this man in her life, no harm could ever truly befall her.

His reassurance now meant so much more to her than it should have, because somehow, it gave her the confidence to face whatever the future might hold, and whatever truth might come to light when he finally found that potion.

She would give her all to this family they were building, with the quiet certainty that nothing could tear her apart from her husband or child—not even the hidden identity that kept resurfacing and then vanishing like a ghost in the dark.

Not having words to show how grateful she was for the gift of him as her husband, she could only lean her head in and kiss his lips. It was a very brief kiss that did not require her to part her lips, and then she moved back and smiled. "Thank you for being in my life, Lord Dagon."

She watched his face grimace in distaste at the way she addressed him. He had always told her not to use that title, and realizing she had used it to tease him, he taunted back,

"Same to you, Lady Dagon."

They both laughed at the same time, and then stared at each other as the laughter subsided. Rohan used his knuckles to caress her jaw, a very light touch that felt like the touch of a feather before he retrieved his hand and looked back down to her stomach.

Rohan talked to the baby for some time, and once done, he turned his eyes to her and arched a brow.

"I hope you are not forgetting what today is, Isa?" he asked, and she frowned, not recalling anything that was special today.

"What is it?" she asked, trying to remember the date and what it was, but her memories did not serve her right.

"Tsk, I can’t believe you gave me the payment in advance and have quickly forgotten what you paid me for," he told her with a shake of his head like he couldn’t believe it.
