Chapter 38: The wolf’s den_Part 2

Lord Edmond had offended him without even knowing it on the day Rohan was ordered to be married, and for that, Rohan had gotten back at him last night. Now he blamed that on his lowly servants because he couldn’t find who to blame. It was so easy to blame the person lower than you.

Joshua was quick to shake his head. "No, my Lord. I did not kill him, nor was I jealous of the attention he received! Believe me, I swear it!" He moved closer and gripped Rohan’s ankle, a big mistake he shouldn’t have attempted, but it was too late because his hand had already come in contact with Rohan’s ankle. Not only that, but he had also raised his voice while pleading.

Rohan’s intense dark eyes seemed to darken to an unbelievable shade of black that almost swallowed the entire white in them.

He muttered a savage curse and used his clean boot to kick the man’s head away from him so he would move back and take his hands off his ankle.

The man fell and rolled back toward the burning fireplace, where the logs of wood had burned down to coal, and his fingers touched the hot embers, causing him to groan and move away to bow his head again. Being a low-life vampire, he could not cry but trembled as he apologized for making the mistake of touching His Lordship. Who could blame him? He was just looking for mercy! Only that he was looking for that mercy in the wrong person and had ended up digging his own grave deeper than it was, for a small mistake of a touch.

Rohan, who had been taking his time wanting to see how everything would turn out and silently taking amusement in the case, was no longer amused as the man had dared to touch him. He despised any form of physical contact that wasn’t initiated by him.

He was like walking water, and any touch was like a flame, once it met his skin, it burned him with rage. It was the same anger he’d felt as a boy when he couldn’t find the words to explain himself, lost in the chattering nonsense of others that overwhelmed him and made his head hurt.

As a child, he’d done the only thing he could when he was surrounded by people who talked too much and too fast or dared to touch him, he lashed out with fists or thrust whatever sharp objects he could find at anyone in front of him. He’d killed many royal footmen and servants. The only person who could bring down his blind rage was the late king, and too bad the man was no more to control his rage and try to calm him with the ways he considered affectionate ways to soften him. Affection be damned!

Rohan was old enough now to control his impulses, but the anger still came, and he fought the demon of it right now before he killed the council members and the insolent man in front of him who had dared touch him.

"F-forgive me, my Lord. I... I did not mean to anger you." Joshua, who could sense the shift in the man before him and feel how the study room suddenly turned cold, like the chill of winter had come upon the room, knew he had offended Lord Dagon by daring to touch him.

Rohan got up to his feet and said, "Since there is no evidence that Joshua here did not kill this slave, it only means that he is guilty and needs to be punished. What do you wish to be done to him, Lord Edmond?" He asked, looking away from the man on the floor to the other one seated across from him. His expression was as blank as plain shit, and his eyes as soulless as a corpse.

Rohan had let this drama drag on too far when he had more important things to do with his bunny, who he had sent Rav to keep an eye on. He was yet to even begin his lesson with her and now they had angered him for no reason, tsk.
