“Cindy? What are you doing?” Someone asked in bewilderment.
“Uncle Chan, they didn’t get mad at us even after such severe injury, so obviously, they are not with the group we came across. They are good guys!”
Thereupon, the girl called Cindy went to Alice, “Your hand needs immediate treatment before you go to Hugo with us, and I could help you if you don’t mind.”
Yanis, after a pause, looked to Alice’s scary palm, “Such a severe injury, we’d better go to the doctor.”
She worried the wound would worsen, then that would be knotty.
The girl named Cindy dared not to speak, her eyes staring at Alice with sincerity. Alice thought for a moment, then a faint smile flickered across her lips, “Then I’m counting on you.”
Hearing that, Yanis suddenly went blue in her face, “Alice ....”
Yet Alice was already striding forward, following the girl named Cindy. Reluctantly, she went along.
After they left, a group of people stayed in situ.
“Shaw, how can you give others such an unprovoked push? Never do it again.”
Shaw, the child who just pushed Alice over, pouted instantly in annoyance, “She is a bad person!”
“As your sister Cindy said, they are not bad people! Did you indeed see them bullying your grandma?”
Shaw nodded.
The senior apparently could neither bear her grandson under fire nor watch the two girls get misunderstood. At last, she sighed, “They haven’t bullied me, but just talked to me. The boy probably got a misunderstanding.”
“That is to say ... We were all mistaken about them? They are Hugo’s workmates indeed?”
“We are indeed Hugo’s workmates. We heard from Chloe there’s something wrong with his family, so we are coming around.”
Hearing Chloe’s name, Cindy's hands froze for a second before going on dealing with Alice’s wound, and she nodded, “I believe in you. Chloe often visits us, and she is familiar with us all. She ... She likes Hugo, and pops in his home all the time.”
With that Cindy cast timid eyes on Alice and whispered, "Doesn't it hurt?"
Hearing that, Alice had a short dumb, and then asked, "What's up?"
"Why there's not even one peep from you while I'm treating your wound?" Cindy glanced at the action of her own hands in confusion, "Some splinters of glass had got into your palm, as well as these wood craps, which need to be picked out by a needle."
Alice darted a look at her palm without saying anything.
Yanis, standing beside them, spoke with resentment, "How could she not feel any pain? I can feel the grave pain even by watching. Her silence is out of her toughness."
Over the years, Alice had always kept all only to herself.
She still remembered when Alice was new abroad, yet to become a designer, she once got bullied during that kind of work and was badly hurt. However, she hadn't said a word until the work was finished.
Yanis still felt distressed for her at the thought of this.
Hearing that, Cindy didn't say a word and kept treating the wound with her head down.
She also noticed that the woman in front of her appeared to be amazingly tough. She herself could hardly bear the cruelty from the start of the treatment, while Alice, with drops of sweat oozing constantly from her fair-skinned forehead, remained without a slight frown.
Having bound up the wound, Cindy whispered, "Remember to keep your hand away from water in the coming days. And you'd better go to the hospital when you are free, since what I gave you today is just emergency treatment."
Alice turned to her with a slight smile, "Thank you."
