Master of his heart (Max and Brielle) novel Chapter 1091

Brielle glanced at Isaac, noticing his struggle with communication. He couldn't string together complete sentences and had a blurry grasp of the world around him. He was also extremely suspicious of people.

His eyes met Brielle's with a guarded caution.

A sense of discomfort settled over Brielle, though she couldn't quite figure out why.

Isaac probably knew, deep down, that he'd been found abandoned in a dumpster. This reality had been part of his earliest memories, making him wary of women. Plus, he was convinced Brielle had ulterior motives for getting close to his dad, which only heightened his wariness around her.

Brielle stood up and quietly left the bathroom.

King stayed seated, watching Isaac, who seemed to relax a bit. Not knowing what to say, King just reached out and gently pinched Isaac's cheek.

Telling Brielle now that Isaac was the child she had given birth to would seem like a fairy tale to her.

And if Isaac found out Brielle was his mom, he'd probably want to move out of the mansion ASAP to keep his distance.

The chasm between mother and son seemed impossible to bridge.

Isaac's personality was a lot like Brielle's—stubborn and reserved. With his communication issues, he kept everything bottled up, making him even more reluctant to talk.

He was like a hedgehog, curled up tight, only peeking out when King was around.

Sometimes, King wondered if he was being selfish, wanting to be Isaac's entire world and keeping him isolated. If Isaac left, King didn't know what he'd have left to live for.

After carrying the sleepy child out of the room, Isaac fell asleep on his shoulder, his chubby cheeks smushed against King's neck, lips slightly puckered.

King laid him on the bed and noticed Brielle standing by the window, looking out at the garden.

Noir, mimicking her, was also by the window, front paws up as if trying to get a better view.

The sight made King smile, but before he could say anything, his phone rang.
