How could two such genuine souls ever part ways? But after those words left Tiffanie's lips, she hung up the phone. The room reeked of alcohol, with takeout containers strewn all over. Tossing her phone aside, Tiffanie flopped onto the couch.
A loud banging at the door interrupted her moment of quiet.
"Tiffanie! You lowlife, come out!"
"You're as worthless as your mother, a ride everyone’s taken!"
Tiffanie's brow furrowed, but she pretended like she didn't hear a thing.
The delivery guy, standing beside Everett, winced at the barrage of insults. Though he didn't understand the Australian dialect, he caught a few choice words, just as Aussies know some English ones.
He knocked on the door, and Tiffanie, thinking it was Everett again, got up and peeked through the peephole. It was the food she had ordered.
She opened the door, but Everett barged in from the side, going on a rampage, smashing things like a madman.
"You wretch! It's all your fault my son is ruined! You must have planned this all along. I won't let you off; I'll make sure you never find peace!"
The apartment was rented by Tiffanie, and she wasn't swimming in cash. Most of what she had was from Mason, which she had intended to return when she had the chance. But Mason had already cut off all forms of communication with her, leaving her completely out of his life. The money couldn't be returned.
With not much furniture left to begin with, Everett’s rampage left the place in shambles, not a spot to rest. Tiffanie, holding her takeout, watched Everett.
After he had wrecked the place, his resentful gaze landed on her. He charged, grabbing her hair and slapping her hard across the face multiple times.
