Why do women fight their fellow gender when their lover cheats on them instead of holding the man responsible for his actions? Islinda decided she was not going to be one of those women. It was no wonder she forced her expression to remain neutral on her way to the dining table even though she was sizzling in anger inwardly.
Such disrespect! If only she could lay her hands on Aldric, she would kick him in the spot where a lady shouldn’t mention, hit him till he has a black eye, and then strangulate him knowing he wouldn’t die. It would be enough punishment for playing with her feelings!
No, not her feelings, but pride. She had no feelings for Aldric, nothing at all. She was just so mad that she needed an outlet for the feelings inside. Unfortunately, there was none. Eveyone in the Fae realm was stronger than her.
"We are here, my lady," Aurelia announced, calling her attention on time because Islinda was an inch away from bumping into the door.
Islinda gasped slightly and stepped back. She had been so distracted with her thoughts she did not watch where she was going and would have been a disaster. They healed the bruise on her neck, would they have to heal the bump that would form on her face too? No, Aldric would probably make fun of her first, that was for sure.
When Aurelia pushed the large oak open, Islinda expected that Aldric would still be busy in bed with Rosalind and she would have to wait for him to arrive - although Islinda planned to eat the food all by herself. But the Fae in question was present at the dining table and impeccably dressed as usual.
He wasn’t alone, Rosalind stood at the corner of the room ready to serve them and Islinda’s anger shifted to guilt. She was supposed to help make Aldric fall for her, instead, he kissed her and she kissed him back. Islinda had no excuse, she failed Rosalind. But her mind was made up now, she would give it her all to bring them together. It was for her benefit anyway.
Thanks to her promise, Islinda who had planned to sit as far away from Aldric as possible decided she would stay close to him, a plan forming in her head. But before she could get to him, the bastard decided to open his mouth and vomit nonsense as usual.
"Someone is happy this morning, I wonder, why is that?" He asked with a knowing look in his eyes that reminded her of what happened last night.
"I wonder too," Islinda answered with indifference, keeping her expression impassive. Aldric loves to tease and get a reaction out of her, she would not give him the satisfaction this time.
"Oh." He said, a grin appearing, "I thought the both of us knew that or do you want another demonstration?"
Islinda panicked, her heart almost leaping out of her chest when she stared at Rosalind listening to their exchange. Aldric must really want to give her a heart attack. Islinda had a feeling Rosalind must suspect something happened between them last night, but admitting it in front of her was another thing. It sounded disrespectful and made Islinda feel like a home wrecker in a budding relationship.
She gulped, staring between Rosalind and Aldric, "I came here to have breakfast, not start another argument with you, my prince."
Aldric gave her a long look before tutting, "I looked forward to the argument, but a nice decision, I would have won anyway ." He declared with pride tall enough to reach the heavens.
If only he knew Islinda gave up easily because of Rosalind else they would have battled with words till their breakfast ran cold.
