Issac was the one who caught Islinda before she hit the ground after losing consciousness, although Aldric made a move too but a warning look from Maxi stopped him midway.
Aldric stared at his favorite horse shifter and she was not smiling at him. Not to mention, this was the first time she was being mad at him.
"I was never going to mark her. She bit me and I returned the favor. You know how Islinda is, she would never learn unless an example is made of her. " He said with a callous shrug.
But Maxi’s frown deepened, "That is still not an excuse. Her bite could never harm you, no, it’s nothing more than a nuisance, but you knew what yours could do. You took advantage of her, Aldric!"
"It was meant to be fun and why are you suddenly like this, Maximus?" Aldric disliked the fact she was being so serious over nothing. He was simply having fun. Had it been the old Maximus, she would have laughed over the expensive joke and gotten over it. The horse shifter was changing and Aldric did not know whether he likes it.
Exactly, why was she so mad about this? Maxi realized she took it quite seriously. But Islinda was her sister and she would defend and protect her. What Aldric did was a sacred act between mates and shouldn’t be taken too lightly. If Islinda had taken his blood too, the both of them would literally be married. How could she keep quiet about it when it affected the two people she liked?
Maxi knew Islinda would not like it if such a thing were to happen without her consent. Even though Islinda was the one who started it by biting him, the poor human had not been in her right senses. And if what happened tonight was an indication, she was obviously not over Valerie. No, Maxi could not imagine how messed up that would be. She did not want Islinda to get hurt, and Aldric either.
She told him, "Some things are not meant to be joked with, Aldric. She’s still a human and not moralless Fae’s like us. Cut her some slack." Maxi warned him finally and spared a look at Issac from over her shoulder, urging him to move and they left Aldric behind.
Before they left, Issac approached the dark prince to say his own piece.
"Don’t," Aldric warned him with a cold, detached expression leaving Issac no other choice but to swallow down his words and get moving.
Aldric stood at that spot the entire time, watching as Maxi and Issac walked on till they were out of sight. He was greatly vexed because of the lecture Maxi gave him. Also, why was he feeling guilty when he shouldn’t? Islinda, the foolish human, bit him and he simply returned the favor - even though he had an inkling about the effect of his bite on her.
"Fuck!" Aldric screamed at the top of his lungs, scaring the present Faeries who avoided him and didn’t want to face his wrath.
Seeing the frightened looks on the faces of the Faeries even frustrated him more. Aldric could not tell how he was feeling anymore. It was like his accumulated frustration had been triggered by one action and now he couldn’t just think about one, but more of his problems.
Unable to stare at the faces of his people who were supposed to treat him like one of their beloved princes, he summoned a portal and got the hell out of there. He appeared in his lab where he attempted to immerse himself in the work he had left halfway.
Yet the buzzing in his head continued and in the end, he had no choice but to abandon everything. He shouldn’t have gone after the females, now even Maxi was mad at him. Islinda has managed to charm her too.
While he was busy plotting how to use Islinda before she lost her value, the human was pulling his loved one to her side. It was just one night but Maxi stood up for her and that said a lot. It seems Islinda was not simple and he would have to be careful while dealing with her.
