Everything went back to the way it was after her reconciliation with Rosalind. No, it was as if nothing happened since the Fae helped her bath as usual. But to Islinda, a lot happened and she was not going to forget it easily. Hence, the bath was as awkward as ever and no one commented on it.
On the bright side, Islinda had the opportunity to have her breakfast alone since Prince Aldric was "busy" again. Although the dark prince made it clear to her that he had responsibilities and was not lazy as she had assumed, Islinda was curious about what he was up to.
Usually, he took his business outside the castle but not recently, he was cooped up somewhere, nor would anyone tell her where to find him. Not that she looked for him. She would be the fool to call for trouble.
However, the frustrating part was when she looked for her new friend Maxi, eager to spend more time with her, only to realize that none of the Faeries who worked there had a clue about her, not even her other new friend Rosalind. Islinda would have thought they were pranking her by intentionally denying her existence, but Faeries can’t lie and that left her more confused.
It was almost as if Maxi didn’t exist and that didn’t make sense. In that case, did she have fun last night with a ghost? No, It was impossible! She touched Maxi last night and she was corporeal; she kissed her. Also, does it mean that Issac was dating a ghost? Maxi gave her the impression both of them were a couple.
Perhaps, could it be that it was only Issac, Aldric, and her who could see Maxi? Islinda’s overactive mind began to come up with theories about why the others had no idea about Maxi. She thought so hard that her head began to hurt and she was rubbing at her temple when a knock sounded on her door.
"Come in...." She said,
The door opened to reveal a familiar Fae and Islinda sprang up to her feet at the sight of Issac, her eyes glinting like the stars in the sky on a cloudless night. Finally, she found someone who would answer all of her questions.
Issac took small steps into the room only for his gaze to collide with the human’s and he did a double take. It was the intensity in Islinda’s bright eyes that scared him, making him shudder and he wondered if it was too late to return from where he came from.
"Issac!" Islinda ran over to him with excitement and took his hand in hers. However, the Fae abruptly snatched his hand away and she recalled he didn’t like to be touched without permission.
So she placed her hand behind her back to avoid the temptation of touching him again, but the glint in her eyes was still there and she said, "Thank God you’re finally here."
"I don’t feel grateful at all for being here," Issac countered as usual and she rolled her eyes towards heaven. Couldn’t he get along with her for once?
However, Islinda was not here to start an argument with the Fae, so she asked instead, "Where is Maxi?"
When Islinda saw the way Issac’s face changed, she thought he was about to give her the same excuses as the others and warned him on time, "Don’t tell me you have no idea who I am talking about because I knew what I saw and did last night with her. Don’t turn me into a senile human, I am going to bite!"
Issac raised a brow at the threat in her voice, taking her in from her head to the sole of her feet and wondering the damage she could do to him.
Islinda understood the condescending look he gave her because she added immediately, "Don’t underestimate the power of a wrathful human."
He scoffed, "Wrathful indeed."
Islinda bit down on her lips annoyed, why does Issac always berate her? If only Islinda knew Prince Aldric treats him the same way and he was only returning the favor.
